PURPOSE:The On-Call Psychiatric Aide provides on-going assistance to clients in the Adult Inpatient Unit, while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, assisting in meeting client treatment objectives and providing documentation as required. The Adult Inpatient Unit is a 15-bed, locked, psychiatric evaluation and treatment facility. The unit is operational around-the-clock, providing opportunities for work during day, evening and overnight shifts, with typical shifts 8 hours in length. Provide on-going assistance to clients in the Adult Inpatient Unit while maintaining a safe and therapeutic work environment. Take appropriate measures for assisting clients in meeting their daily basic needs for health and safety. To assist in meeting client treatment objectives as directed by the treatment team. To provide appropriate documentation as required by KMHS policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Note: Gender (female or male as applicable) is a bona fide occupational qualification for the position of Psychiatric Aide at this time, under an opinion letter of the Executive Director of the Washington State Human Rights Commission.
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, ascend and descend stairs, talk or listen and lift up to 50 pounds. Peripheral vision is also required for this position. A fair degree of flexibility and strength is required in this position due to the infrequent, yet essential, use of one’s body in the temporary physical restraint of some clients.
