Facility Steward (Part Time)

General Job Description: Responsible for the implementation of the Environment Principle and Systems Principle that are related to Environments. This includes facility management of the designated campus, assuring safety, sustainability, cleanliness, regulatory compliance and accountability where applicable.

Academic Preparation and/or Experience: Minimum three years of facility management or related management experience.

Accountability: The School Facility Coordinator will received day to day direction from the School Principal and will report to the Director of Technology and Maintenance.


Key Result Area #1: TranZed 'Senses'

This KRA is successfully completed when:

{C}a. Through the senses; sight, smell, sound, touch, and taste attention to environmental detail is instinctive.

{C}b. Sustainability and accountability for environments is achieved 100%.

{C}c. {C}Communication is provided to staff personnel to help create the most beneficial 'education/office spaces', taking into account efficiency of space and energy flow, resulting in the creating of a pleasing educational environment.

{C}d. {C}Support is provided to teachers for special projects in any aspects where environments are involved.

{C}e. {C}Support in developing 'outdoor classrooms', green school initiatives and recycling programs to better environments and school programs is provided.

{C}f. {C}Help and assistance is provided to develop 'green' spaces in school and outdoor bird feeding areas.

Key Result Area # 2: Systems Utilization

This KRA is successfully completed when:

a. Systems are developed when need and current systems are utilized for efficiency and effectiveness in the areas of vehicle management, security operations, machinery, storage, inventory, operation tools, electrical, mechanical and building structure.

b. Potential facility risks to all students, staff and
visitors are observed and resolved.

Key Result Area #3: Custodial Supervision

This KRA is successfully completed when:

a. Daily Culture Card meeting is held with the custodial staff.

b. Daily supervision is provided for the janitorial/custodial staff assigned to the campus.

c. Daily job assignments are determined through the service ticket system and circulated appropriately.

d. Each day a complete walk through of the building and grounds takes place with a rotation of the custodial staff, using the checklist attached.

e. Daily grounds keeping are performed in the morning prior to school opening.

f. General knowledge, supervision and teaching in the trade areas are evident.

g. Timelines for work completion are met.

h. It is evident that there is the ability to work safely and bring items to the supervisor's attention when safety is a concern.

i. When other duties as assigned and completed as requested.

f. The ability to prioritize, organize, and implement several tasks simultaneously is evident.

Key Result Area #4: Contractual Supervision:

This KRA is successfully completed when:

  1. The cleaning vendor is supervised as to compliance with every area of the scope of the cleaning contract. Accountability and follow through is swift and accurate.

  1. Snow removal is completed per contract and with custodians.

  1. Seasonal landscape work is completed automatically according to schedule and according to campus design as outlined in the checklist attached.

  1. Communication with outside contractors and follow up on any 'identified service ticket items' is completed. Communication between school personnel and contractors, including verification that all items are properly repaired in a timely manner and with the proper attention.

Key Result Area #5: Regulatory Compliance:

This KRA is successfully completed when:

a. When oversight of all compliance issues related to facility management is achieved through collaboration with the Agency Wide Operations Manager in the areas of AHERA, OSHA, and vehicle maintenance.

b. When the physical plant and school environment reflects the Children's Guild's philosophy and values.

c. When approval for all purchases over $500 is received as needed and approved from the Operation budget by the VP of Special Projects.

d. When deployment of Emergency Response Manual is needed.

Workplace Expectations:

  1. Attendance is consistent.

  1. Guild Dress Code Policy is followed at all times.

  1. Proper procedure is followed in reporting to work each day.

  1. Follow Guild Personnel Handbook.

  1. All other duties as assigned.
