Description

Koniag Technology Solutions (KTS) is looking for a full-time Master Scheduling Coordinator for our Baltimore MD location. This is a direct, full-time position with our company working at our customer’s site. Hours are Thursday-Monday, 12:00am-8:30am, to include a ½ hr non-billable meal break.

This position is considered Essential/Mission Critical. This means the employee is expected to report for work on time and/or remain at work, despite late reporting, early dismissal or closure due to weather conditions. During inclement weather conditions, Essential/Mission Critical employees are not to leave the job site unless dismissed by a member of Team KTS management or the employee's designated point of contact.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a client-sponsored HSPD-12 Suitability (Public Trust)

The objective of this task is to provide support to the Scheduling Control Team at the client's 24-hour central computer center. The production scheduling control function is focused on Mainframe Batch Production Monitoring, but duties also include monitoring Enterprise Batch Operations (z/OS, Unix, Windows); monitoring Data Exchange Operations; notifying the development community of critical batch outages that impact operations; and implementing emergency changes.

The Scheduling Control Team performs problem determination and resolves production failures, while coordinating with the development community and other stakeholders. In addition, scheduling personnel monitor the recycling of Online CICS Regions, the Central Version Processors, and the processing of disk backup operations. They are also involved in the release of batch software via the batch release production system, and transmitting and tracking data to/from the client via CYBERFUSION software.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor batch production scheduling environments via multi-distributed platforms
  • Process batch production job requests via multi-distributed platforms
  • Conduct periodic test runs; implement operational procedures; edit and prepare JCL and process jobs for one or more computer systems
  • Establish job streams for special request production jobs based on user requirements
  • Review production performance data and monitor job stream performance
  • Direct workload assignments to the specified computer system and appropriate staff; follow up to ensure workloads are completed
  • Monitor and operate computer hardware and peripheral equipment; process and maintain software release system production requests
  • Monitor batch backup and disaster recovery processes
  • Maintain electronic production requests and forward requests to the appropriate branch staff; maintain a log for requests
  • Assist in analyzing trouble situations; provide technical support to user; perform restart and recovery routines, as necessary
  • Investigate and take corrective action for operational problems
  • Establish, update, and close a problem management record in the trouble ticket reporting system to document problems encountered; communicate via email to the task manager and shift leader when any production issues occur
 
Position Requirements

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • 4-6 years' experience in mainframe monitoring and scheduling
  • Previous experience with PCs running on the most current Windows platform
  • Computer operations experience in a mainframe operating systems software environment
  • Previous experience in the following:
    • z/OS 1.4(or higher)
    • MVS/ESA-OS/390
    • JES3 V4
    • ISPF
    • CICS
    • OPS/MVS II
    • DB2
    • TCP/IP
  • Previous experience with scheduling software packages, including but not limited to: Control-M and Control-M Enterprise Manager, CYBERFUSION, Connect:Direct, and data exchange products.
  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work independently on the off-shift, while communicating via reports and emails with team members on the other shifts.
  • The ability to monitor all scheduled tasks, along with the ability to recognize and direct attention to any abnormalities or disruptions (while following the prescribed troubleshooting prcocedures and reporting formats) is a must.

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit or stand for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, perform simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
