Description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs work on the building’s electrical systems and equipment that operate in the voltage range of 12 to 480 volts.

  • Inspects, tests, maintains, repairs, and replaces all indoor lighting fixtures, outdoor lights affixed to buildings, lighting controls, lighting timers, emergency lights, dimmers, and hard-wired remote control systems.

  • Inspects, tests, maintains, repairs, and replaces electrical equipment, including motors, emergency generators, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, relays, magnetic starters, variable frequency drives, public address and class bell systems, panel boards, transformers and electric heating systems such as radiant and resistance heat.

  • Inspects tests, maintains, repairs, and replaces wiring circuits, including cable, wire, conduit, duct bank, cable trays, circuit breaker panels (including all components), fuses, and switches.

 
Position Requirements

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Must have at least 4 years’ experience in the electrical trade, formal technical training, and a minimum of a high school diploma
  • Knowledge of codes (e.g., National Electric Code) related to installation or renovation of building wiring, lighting, and power distribution systems and knowledge of the safety practices and procedures used around electricity.
  • Knowledge of the application and use of testing equipment used in checking, testing, and analyzing electrical systems and equipment such as ammeter, oscilloscope, voltage tester, phase and rotation tester, and multimeter.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, charts, and technical instructions and to apply electrical formulas and conversion tables to job requirements.
  • Ability to individually lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and to move and transport materials and equipment weighing in excess of 200 lbs. with assistance.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, and have the ability to operate automotive trucks, lift trucks and man lifts and to work in confined spaces, to climb ladders, and to work from elevated platforms and rooftops.
