Description

JOB SUMMARY: Maintains, repairs, and replaces building hardware, woodwork, casework, cabinetry, and various building systems.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repairs and replaces structural woodwork and wood equipment such as counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, doors, hardwood floors, shelving, display cases, building framework, and trim.

  • Repairs and replaces building architectural systems and elements such as: windows, doors and associated hardware, glazing, screens, roofs, insulation, floor covering, minor painting, directly applied and suspended ceilings, vinyl composition floor tiles, gutters and stairs.

  • Performs minor building and office renovations, working from drawings and includes planning the work; estimating and arranging the materials, supplies, and equipment required; and coordinating with other trades.

  • Performs work in support of minor alteration jobs such as: rough or finished carpentry work; erection and dismantling of scaffolds and rigging systems; concrete/masonry; demolition and site cleaning; delivery of supplies, materials and equipment; removal of trash, rubbish, excess stock, packing and other materials.
  • Inspects work site for planned work's impact on associated trades and professionals (e.g., safety engineer) and consults with others to ensure safety and to prevent unplanned equipment outages.

 
Position Requirements

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

  • Minimum of 2 – 4 years’ experience in the Carpenter field

  • Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions related to chemicals used in the trade.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, charts, and technical instructions.

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects over 50 lbs and to move and transport materials and equipment weighing in excess of 200 lbs with assistance.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders and to work from elevated platforms or rooftops.
