Description

Under the direction of the Food Service Manager of The Magical Forest the Food Service Worker will perform a variety of semi-skilled kitchen/cafeteria related duties as assigned in compliance with the policies and procedures of the State of Nevada Health Department as well as Opportunity Village.

There are evening hours and weekend responsibilities with this position that may require extended hours. This is a seasonal position that runs through the duration of the Magical Forest. This temporary assignment will last from approximately October 1 - December 31, 2017.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Reinforce and positively engage in Opportunity Village's organizational culture supporting choice and creativity of clients and of staff.
  2. Follow recipe guidelines and specifications.
  3. Able to operate kitchen utensils and equipment safely and efficiently.
  4. Will work in an environment that is subject to temperature change.
  5. Able to follow verbal instruction.
  6. Able to relate, communicate and co-operate effectively with staff and public.
  7. Follow all policies and procedures according to Health Code.
  8. Work under stressful / time sensitive situations.
  9. Ensures sanitation and cleanliness meets Health Department standards.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to evaluate emergency situations and prioritize work load in order to meet strict deadlines.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Must possess social discernment to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours along with weekends and holidays for special events.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the Southern Nevada Health District policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) months verifiable work experience in the Food Service industry.
  • Required: A Southern Nevada Health Card.
  • Required: At least 5 years’ experience working in a high volume kitchen environment.
