Description

OVERVIEW

The Raw Material Specialist will support research and development, quality assurance, claims, and regulatory initiatives. Focus for this position will be on the management of raw materials approval process, review of raw materials against Seventh Generation standards, accurate documentation and systems for new and renovated products, enhancing raw material specifications, and managing issue resolution associated with raw material specifications.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  • Develop, optimize, enter and maintain raw material specifications within the Product Vision Lifecycle Management Program.
  • Review incoming raw material documentation for relevancy, accuracy and completeness. Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure efficient flow of information.
  • Ensure efficient specification flow from entry, to approval through the dissemination process.
  • Interact with corporate Product Compliance to develop safety profile of raw materials and finished products.
  • Maintain document management system for raw material specifications.
  • Coordinate and optimize information and documentation flow between internal cross functional technical subject areas and external raw material suppliers.
  • Manage Safety Data Sheets to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage documentation and certifications for International Customers.
  • Support new product development, qualification and launch activities.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable domestic and international government regulations, certifications and standards (FDA, EPA, TSCA, REACH, etc.).
  • Enter and maintain specifications in SAP PLM system.
  • Conduct annual review and compilation of updated documentation related to raw materials. Appropriately communicate changes and initiate processes to update specifications.

 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering and similar science.
  • One year of documentation experience, preferably in consumer packaged goods.
  • Attention to detail and ability focus on accuracy and minutiae.
  • Familiarity with chemical regulations in North America and internationally.
  • Familiarity with consumer products and product safety testing.
  • Passion for working in a values-based company.
  • Desire to own decisions and take responsibility for outcomes.
  • Willingness to continually embrace personal and professional development.
  • Demonstrated exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, statistical and specification management software.
