This position announcement is a general call to action for all interested Software Engineers/Developers at all career levels. SSI has an on-going need for software engineers and developers with the below described skills and experience and by responding to this position posting you will be considered for our new position openings as they come up even before we post them to the general public. Typical Job responsibilities will include:

  • Developing/maintaining software systems/modules using contemporary programming languages such as Java, C#, C/C++, SQL, Python, Perl, PHP, and Javascript.
  • Utilizing Integrated Development Enviroments such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, NetBeans, Komodo, and Xcode.
  • Performing unit testing of software code.
  • Developing software requirements specifications.
  • Designing software solutions that meet the specifications.
  • Maintaining traceability from software requirements to design elements to code modules.
  • Participating in project team peer reviews of software development work products.
  • Working within multiple Software Development Lifecycle methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.

Position Requirements

Typical Position Qualification Requirements:

Education, Certifications and Years of Experience:

  • A BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field is preferred. Exceptional directly related work experience may be considered for substitution of the degree requirement for highly qualified candidates.
  • Senior level candidates should have 5 or more years of experience in several of the below listed technical skills. Mid level candidates should have 2 to 5 years experience in the below and junior level candidates can have 0 to 2 years.
  • Certain positions may require the Comptia Security+ certification or obtaining it within 6 months of start date.
  • Certain positions may require Comptia (or similar) Windows or Linux OS certification or approved training completion within 6 months of start date.
  • Certain positions may require an active security clearance at the Secret level or better.

Technical:

  • Experience developing software in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, C#, C/C++, SQL, Python, HTML, XML, Perl, PHP, and Javascript.
  • Experience developing software in one or more of the following integrated development environments: Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, NetBeans, Komodo, and Xcode.
  • Experience working with one or more of the following database environments: Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Db2, and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience working with configuration management, software build, and bug tracking tools such as Git, GitHub, CVS, Subversion, Ant, Maven, Jenkins, Jira, Bugzilla, and Mantis.
  • Experience working under multiple Software Development Lifecycle methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, Spiral, and Incremental.
  • Experience working in a structured, process-driven software development environment with processes that conform to the CMMI Level 3 standard (or similar) is a plus.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Salary Range Our software engineering positions will have salaries that range from $50,000 to $135,000 based on the specific requirements of the position.  
Travel Requirements Travel as a part of the job can vary from no travel to 25% depending on the specific requirements of the position.
