The Optical Networking and Sensing Research Department of NEC Laboratories America, located in Princeton, NJ, is seeking a Senior Associate Researcher. The successful candidate will be participating in the development of FPGA-based processing system by given DSP algorithm; design, simulation, compilation and system testing on hardware platform with necessary I/O wrapping; design optimization for performance and resource usage; and collaboration with researchers for algorithm optimization. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team, show critical thinking and fast learning ability in their approach to problem solving. Job Duties: • System level design based on given algorithm, including hardware platform selection, system block diagram, and FPGA processing architecture • RTL oriented DSP simulation • FPGA oriented DSP algorithm optimization • RTL design for both algorithm and hardware interfaces; RTL simulation • System level RTL integration, compilation, with necessary timing and resource optimization • System testing, FPGA function testing/verification over hardware platform and system join-testing with external connections • Necessary software design to facilitate system testing • Design and testing documentation |
• Master's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science • 3-5 years experience in FPGA RTL design and DSP related system • Familiar with FPGA architecture, in particular Xilinx FPGA architecture, and the skillset of FPGA-specialized optimization • Familiar with FPGA development software • Knowledge in digital signal processing; familiar with Matlab • Independently operating hardware platform and running system testing • C or C++ programming • Electronic circuit design and fabrication Preferred Skills and Knowledge: • Knowledge of state of the art PSoC architecture, bring-up procedure • Knowledge of Linux operating system • Linux driver design to enable system testing |
