SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Lead Quality Assurance Lab Technician is to carry out specific duties defined by the quality system that ensure the overall quality of raw, make and finished products. The Lead QA Technician's responsibility will be to test and report results for new, existing and competitive products as per the requirements and specifications. The Lead QA Technician will be responsible for the organization and prioritization of daily QA activities and tasks for the QA technicians. The Lead QA Lab technician will also assist the QA manager with the acquisition of supplies for the QA lab. The Lead QA Lab Technician position requires interaction with Avon and Shurtape Technical and Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Strategic Sourcing, Manufacturing, Customer Logistics, Consumer Relations and specified ShurTech Brands, LLC Suppliers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned)
The Lead Quality Assurance Technician shall bear final responsibility for the following areas:
Support the goals and objectives of the company and the department
Assist the Quality Assurance Manager, Product Engineers, and Technical Services Manager in initiating and sustaining quality, product and process improvement projects.
Cultivation of ShurTech's culture and values by promoting communication, teamwork and the respectful treatment of all individuals while always serving the customer (internal and external).
Maintenance and Administration duties of quality related databases, software, and electronic data files.
Develop and maintain test protocols, procedures, databases and manuals.
Initiate and manage supplier and manufacturing product information (as assigned).
Completion and accuracy of all quality-related documentation and correspondence internal to QA/Technical department, external (from suppliers) and ShurTech Brands, LLC Manufacturing.
Interact and effectively communicate quality standards with ShurTech's suppliers, customers, manufacturing, and all appropriate departments.
Provide technical data and product use information to our internal customers.
Ability to simplify and present Technical data and information to broad audiences.
Perform First Piece Checks (FPC), In-Process Audits (IPC), and all additional product and process audits as needed.
Ensure and report quality of 'make' products through audits and testing as specified.
Ensure incoming product and packaging quality by performing UPC verifications, visual/physical inspections and specifications conform to standards established by ShurTech Brands LLC, ShurTape Technical or ASTM/PSTC.
Attend meetings and provide feedback regarding quality issues and processes (such as Production Meetings, Huddle's, and other meetings as assigned and requested).
Prepare quality related documentation and samples to be used at work centers (as assigned).
Product Quality Dispositions:
Provide details related to manufacturing and supplier issues to appropriate parties (internal & external)
Notify all applicable Distribution Teams of action required regarding product lock and status dispositions.
Maintain and report quality information retained within systems such as WM/SAP.
Perform new, existing and competitive product testing.
Generate timely inventory disposition reports to track and report product on status/lock.
Assist in monitoring inventory of shelf life and act to disposition expired product.
Issue product disposition details as well as corrective actions to manufacturing and suppliers (as assigned) and ensure manufacturing and supplier identification of root cause and corrective/preventive action closure.
Report conflicting item master data with actual audit data (item dimensions, bar codes, etc.)
Receive, review, file, and maintain Certificates of Analysis (COA) and Certificates of Compliance (COC).
QA Laboratory Related Responsibilities:
Proper and proficient operation of all test and inspection equipment required to perform testing of all applicable products.
Proper and proficient execution of all applicable test procedures and test protocols (including but not limited to ASTM/PSTC test methods).
Collect and report valid and consistent test results/data with minimal variability.
Maintain and oversee organization, storage, and correct product flow in lab, product temporary storage areas (such as QA Corral), designated QA/Technical aisles in the distribution center, and QA lab office area.
Maintain proper inventory of lab supplies and timely calibration of lab equipment.
Daily inspections, testing and analysis of product (new, existing and competitive testing of both raw materials and finished goods) and processes.
Develop, prepare, and write test reports (including summarization of drawn conclusions) to be generated to larger audiences.
Periodically analyze crucial quality indicators by manufacturing/supplier, item and/or work center as identified by QA Manager, Product Engineers, or Technical Services Manager.
Perform and assist in the evaluation of existing products along with products in various stages of product development.
Ensure all test equipment including gauges and instruments are properly maintained, calibrated and fully functional.
Manage external equipment calibrations (such as Stratix verifiers, etc.)
Lead Technician Related Responsibilities:
Manage the daily activities of the QA lab and QA technicians with respect to testing priorities and quality issues specifically.
Manage workload of QA technicians and QA technician performance.
Manage the ordering of consumable items and preparation of needed testing supplies as needed.
Manage the organization and continuous improvement of the QA and applications laboratory.
Maintenance and generation of the supplier score card
The ability to train various company personnel on any aspect of the quality system or other systems used by QA department (WinSPC, WM, SAP for example)
Support QA technicians and QA manager with dailty tasks and as needed defined by the QA manager.

Bachelor degree in Quality Assurance or related field preferred, with 4 to 6 years of quality lab experience with a minimum of 1 year in a lead/supervisory roll.
Lean Six Sigma yellow belt certification preferred.
Knowledge of ASTM/PSTC test methods and use of related lab equipment preferred.
Strong interpersonal, written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and organizational ability including use of computer software as well as word processing, spreadsheets, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) databases.
Basic math skills to include averages, percentages, standard deviations, metric conversions and interpretation of graphs.

Work requires hearing, mental and visual attention.
Able to lift 50 lbs., able to bend and lift frequently, and able to work around dust.
This is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment. Many duties listed above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion.
