Redhorse Corporation has an immediate career opportunity for a Smart Building Automation System Specialist on a long-term engagement with the United States General Services Administration (GSA) Public Building Service (PBS) Region 10. The Smart Building Automation System Specialist will provide technical support for the operation and management of the systems and tools in the GSA PBS Region 10 suite of automation systems, to include:

  • National Computerized Maintenance Management System (NCMMS);
  • Building Automation System (BAS);
  • GSALink;
  • entry and access control systems;
  • advanced metering systems;
  • lighting control systems; and
  • heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC).

GSA PBS Region 10 provides services to agency customers in the Arctic and Pacific Northwest areas of the United States of America, with customers in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington State. The work location for this position at that the GSA PBS Region 10 offices in Auburn, WA.

Duties for the Smart Building Automation System Specialist will include:

  • Providing expertise for troubleshooting of Building Operating Systems related issues and associated assessments

  • Supporting operation and maintenance of approximately thirty-eight (38) building automation systems and multiple lighting control systems from various manufacturers, including but not limited to Alerton, Tridium, Siemens, Delta, Johnson Controls, Trane, Lutron, Baber-Coleman, etc., across the region.

  • Supporting operation of advanced meters and sub-meter applications including Obvious Advanced Metering system with Schneider Electric ION EEM dashboard application. All work must be done within the framework of GSA's IT standards, managed by the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).

  • Assisting in the improvement/upgrade of the existing building automation[TC1] systems currently in use throughout the region. This will include defining requirements in order to establish the scope of work that will assist GSA in contracting with building automation system providers to upgrade systems.

  • Evaluating the root cause of HVAC related issues. This will require the Smart Building Automation Specialist to coordinate through GSA with the site property management staff; visit the jobsite; and, with the aid of the O&M staff, identify HVAC, TAB, or DDC related issues.

  • Providing subject matter expertise in the areas of BAS operation, BAS migration to virtual server, sequences of operation review and update, BAS and networking assessment, testing adjusting and balancing, and other HVAC related issues.

  • Producing professional documentation that summarizes findings on whether the technical and cost components of a project proposal meet the Proposal Evaluation Criteria relevant to a particular solicitation.

 
Position Requirements

Minimum Basic Requirement for Skills, Experience, Education and Credentials

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of progressively responsible experience performing facility management, building performance, and other duties relevant to this position
  • Experience in BAS and HVAC through proof of training, certificates, and/or licensing. BAS Operator Training Certificate required, and a minimum of 3 years HVAC experience in commercial buildings.
  • Proficient in communicating scientific/technical/policy information.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment and to form and maintain effective teams.
  • Ability to prioritize work and the flexibility to change directions as the job dictates.
  • Must possess strong inter-personal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels.
  • Mastery of sophisticated service orientation, strong management skills, leadership skills, sound judgment and decision-making, critical thinking, creative problem solving, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic personal computer and networking technical expertise and the technical aptitude to learn Building Automation Systems like those previously mentioned and software application like Maximo 7.5.
  • Demonstrate competency with spreadsheets and databases, such as Microsoft(MS) Excel
  • Experience with presenting technical information to non-technical audiences such as with use of MS PowerPoint, ability to manage the software and SharePoint system to access confidential documents.
