We have an immediate opportunity available to join our Operations team as a Manager, Warehouse Operations. This is position oversees all activities of our 250,000-sq. ft. warehouse in Commerce Township, MI. Responsibilities include the management of receiving, shipping, the cycle count program, and customer returns by monitoring the progress of projects, assigning responsibilities, setting priorities, measuring performance, managing budgets, rework lines and light manufacturing.

Essential Functions:

  • Inbound receiving and inspection activities ensuring inbound deliveries into warehouse management system are received and records maintained in compliance with company requirements.
  • Outbound shipping activities ensuring shipments are processed in compliance with customer, company and regulatory requirements.
  • Inventory control process including cycle counting and tracking of physical inventory of stock.
  • Returns processing activities for both customer and consumer returns, including recovery and recycling programs.
  • Collaborate with product development and marketing departments to provide input on warehousing considerations for product packaging and to ensure warehousing requirements for handling/storing/shipping of products are met.
  • Develop/implement performance metrics. Provide weekly and monthly reports for inventory, output, returns processing and other performance indicators.
  • Proactively lead cross-functional process improvements through effective communication and coordination with different stakeholders.
  • Hire, train and lead warehouse personnel as well as manage temporary agency employees.
  • Manage and report budget requirements and costs. Propose recommendations for cost savings.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation, rules; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in a consumer products industry.
  • 10 years warehousing experience with minimum of 5 years’ experience managing warehouse operations and staff, focused on performance metrics and process improvements.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving, statistics, light manufacturing and quality.
  • Ability to prepare cost estimates, justifications, and financial analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of related materials and distribution processes.
  • Strong inter-personal skills in team building and project management.
  • Proven track record of maintaining high level of employee morale through team building and counseling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public and one-on-one presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to manage in a hands-on entrepreneurial and diverse working environment with shifting priorities/projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and warehouse management systems.
  • Knowledge of shipping dangerous goods (for example: oils, lithium ion batteries)
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Some overtime & weekend hours may be required.
