As light-based technologies push into new markets, Thorlabs plans to enter early with the products and services required to ensure the ultimate success of our customers.   Category Vytran   Location Vytran - Morganville, New Jersey   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Description The position is responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and coordinating production Kanban's for the overall achievement of meeting team goals (mainly executing the build plan). This level builds on experience gained as Assembler I by either obtaining more depth and reliable in specific subject area with the expectation that assignments are larger and more complex, or by gaining experience in more subject areas. Although the location of the position is in Morganville, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other ThorLabs locations. Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to: Assists in directing and participates in production- primarily for the LDC and PTR builds. Assists in inventory tracking and maintains parts supply for monthly build plan execution. Assists with scheduling. Directs and maintains Kanbans for production use. Monitors existing Kanbans and creates additional Kanbans for lean manufacturing improvements. Maintenance of high quality and safety within the organization. Works closely with operations manager to ensure smooth production and process flow. Qualifications Experience: Minimum 3 years of working experience in precision assembling. Optical fiber equipment assembly experience preferred. Education: High school diploma or GED. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Computer literate with understanding of inventory management. Must be able to read/understand Assembly drawings and BOM's. Must possess strong Mechanical Aptitude and Attention to Detail Strong communication skills. Flexibility/adaptability in a fast-paced & dynamic environment Learning orientation.
