Job Summary:


The Desktop Support Manager provides directions, leadership and management of Desktop Support operations and other functions as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Oversees management of Desktop Support operations and team members.
  • Performs staff scheduling to ensure Desktop Support coverage during normal business hours and on-call support as required.
  • Evaluates workflow processes, identifies solutions and resolves issues.
  • Manages the help desk queue and acts as escalation point for the Desktop Support Team. When required, effectively and efficiently manages the life cycle of the case, escalate as needed, and creating detailed documentation.
  • Communicates with users to ensure high satisfaction levels, perform service recovery, and identity opportunities for improvement.
  • Records problems/concerns, establishes acuity level and performs follow-up as necessary on reported incidents including documentation of incident resolution.
  • Administers all duties in accordance with established IT policies, procedures and standards.
  • Maintain accurate IT Asset Inventory and assist in acquisition, deployment, support, and retiring of IT assets based on established IT Life Cycle management.
  • Collaborates with the Director of IT Infrastructure and CIO to ensure that strategic projects are successful at the desktop level.
  • Establishes Desktop Support plan, schedules resources, and communicates metrics to Leadership for major go lives and upgrades.

    Position Requirements
    • B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
    • Minimum of 8 years work experience in a Help Desk, Call Center, or Information Technology support capacity.
    • Minimum of 4 years managerial experience.
    • Must be a team player.
    • Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 40 pounds throughout the work hour.
    • Ability to interface effectively with end users and non-technical people.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
    • Ability to quickly learn systems with little or no documentation.
    • Continuous learning of new systems, business processes and concepts are a must.
    • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation.
    • Ability to perform in high pressure or stressful situations.
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
    • Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 40 pounds throughout the work hour.
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills required.
    • A+ of Help Desk certification preferred.
