Description

Videographer/Photographer/Editor Internship

Disability Rights New York (DRNY) is seeking a Videographer/Editor Intern. DRNY is the Protection & Advocacy System and Client Assistance Program (P&A/CAP) for persons with disabilities in New York. As the P&A/CAP for New York, DRNY advocates for the civil and legal rights for New Yorkers with disabilities.

Summary:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our high-performing team and gain exposure to all aspects of video cinematography and editing. The Videographer/Editor Intern will be responsible for shooting, editing, converting and uploading video content to appropriate websites, and creating documentary videos. The Videographer/Editor Intern will also assist with writing titles, descriptions, closed captioning and tags for edited videos.

  • This is an unpaid internship.

  • Must be available 10-20 hours/week between the hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with potential for travel throughout New York State.

    Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • Must be proficient using Apple software, Final Cut Pro and Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).

  • Must have one year of experience filming and editing video.

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field.

  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects and balance competing priorities.

  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative and be proactive.

  • Comfortable working with different personalities, new people and subject matter experts.

  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills with innate attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently on projects and also collaborate as a strong team member.

  • Knowledge of video accessibility standards and practices.

  • Must be accurate, efficient and self-motivated.

  • Ability to work in a creative, fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to craft stories that are consistent with DRNY's communication goals.

  • Interview individuals and attend meetings to obtain items for publication.

  • Collaborate with internal departments on projects and assignments.

    Education/ Working Knowledge

  • Experience in Graphic Design, Video & Cinematography, OR pursuing a degree in either Broadcast Journalism, Video & Cinematography, or Graphic design.

    Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodations):

  • Ability to communicate in person and by phone.

  • Ability to operate a computer, video equipment, etc.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

    Working Conditions:

  • Travel is required, sometimes overnight. DRNY will pay for travel expenses.

  • Work is typically performed in an office environment with the majority of time spent working on a computer and with video equipment.

  • This position is located in Albany, NY.
