What are we looking for in a Mental Health Worker/Case Manager?

Mental Health Worker / Case Managers provide care, support, and a safe living environment for individuals residing within our 24-hour inpatient and residential facilities. Mental Health Worker / Case Managers provide supportive counseling and skills development through individual or group sessions to assist clients with stabilizing symptoms and learning illness management skills. This position is part of an interdisciplinary team that provides individualized, trauma-informed treatment in collaboration with the client’s natural support systems to help ensure a smooth transition to community outpatient treatment. This role is best suited to someone who communicates effectively, remaining supportive and empathetic during challenging situations, and who values teamwork and collaboration in working toward the goal of improving the lives of the individuals we serve. A general understanding of behavioral health issues is helpful for this position.

Selah Evaluation & Treatment Facility is our newest program, which opened April 2019. This new sixteen-bed, secure facility will serve adults who require short-term inpatient treatment due to a crisis or change in function related to mental illness. This program will provide evaluation, stabilization, and brief treatment for adults in a supportive, trauma-informed environment. An integrated, multidisciplinary team of professionals will provide individualized treatment and develop a comprehensive discharge plan that emphasizes family support and community resources. Schedule (2 positions): Thursday-Monday 3pm-11:30pm OR Friday-Tuesday 11pm-7:30am

The Competency Restoration Program is a twenty-four bed secure residential treatment program that serves male adults who have, due to a mental illness, been deemed by the court to be unable to aid and assist in court proceedings regarding current pending criminal charges. The goal of this program is to offer residents treatment and educational opportunities in order to prepare them to be able to fully aid and assist in their own defense. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team with an emphasis on collaboration, and the program uses trauma-informed evidence-based practices that have been proven effective for education and treatment. Schedule (2 positions): Thursday-Sunday 11am-10pm OR Saturday-Tuesday 11am-10pm

The Detox/Crisis Triage Center is a sixteen bed adult facility that monitors clients who are experiencing alcohol and/or drug intoxication and/or withdrawals. In addition, there are crisis stabilization beds to provide 24 hour monitoring and supervision of client’s behaviors and medications in a safe environment to prevent further client de-compensation and inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Schedule (3 positions): Monday 2pm-10pm, Tuesday 1pm-9pm, Friday 1pm-9pm, Saturday 3pm-11pm, Sunday 10am-6pm OR Monday 3pm-11pm, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 2pm-10pm, Sunday 3pm-11pm OR Sunday-Thursday 10pm-6am

Stepping Stone is a twelve-bed facility that serves adult residents with chronic and/or acute mental illness who need the structure and support of a 24-hour transitional group living situation. Residents are actively involved in the responsibilities of home management including cooking, cleaning, and decision making about house programs and problems. Stepping Stone residents are also taught skills that enable them to seek volunteer or paid positions in the community. Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 12am-10am and Monday 2pm-12am.

Mental Health Worker/Case Manager duties may include:

  • developing and conducting social & leisure activities for clients
  • facilitating educational, behavioral health, or skill-building groups
  • coaching clients in practical living skills such as nutrition, budgeting, and other independent living activities
  • accompanying clients to appointments, community events, and outings
  • providing daily oversight of medication self-administration and monitoring symptoms & medication response
  • maintaining a safe and clean environment, which may vary from general housekeeping to deep cleaning depending on facility & need
  • completing required documentation that captures the activities, goals, and progress of each client
 
Position Requirements

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED.

Credentials: Eligible for Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration

Other Credentials Required: First Aid/CPR Certification, Food Handler's Permit, Driver's License, Vehicle Liability Insurance
