Warehouse Supervisor- Boston, Massachusetts

DiVal Safety Equipment, a leader in the Fire, EMS and industrial safety equipment distribution business, is looking for a Warehouse Supervisor with a 'whatever it takes' attitude. The main focus of this position is to process daily orders with the assistance of the warehouse staff maintaining a safe, credible and positive working environment in our Boston, MA satellite location reporting to the Corporate Warehouse Manager out of Buffalo, NY.

Duties and Responsibilities -

  • Responsible to complete ‘A Day's Work in a Day' to include but not limited to:
    • All PO's processed, and all items from the PO's put away the same day received
    • All local ‘Our Delivery' orders entered/released are delivered to our customers by the next business day
    • All FedEx/UPS orders entered/released by 2:00pm are shipped same day. Orders after 2:00pm to be shipped upon request
    • All freight carrier orders entered/released by 12:00 noon to be shipped upon request when logistically possible
    • All required inventory cycle counts are completed and processed with the assistance of the inventory supervisor - following up on inventory discrepancies and adjustments
    • ‘Facting' maintenance of the warehouse completed daily (F.A.C.T.S. = face product, align product, clean/cut, tag and sweep)
  • Focus on safety at all times - providing a safe working environment for all employees by enforcing related training and policies for equipment, vehicles and chemicals and monitoring unsafe conditions providing documentation, disciplinary action (if necessary) and continual training
  • Responsible for the safe transport of hazardous materials, adhering to all D.O.T. regulations
  • Ensure shipments on all DiVal vehicles are at or below vehicle weight restrictions for that vehicle type
  • Conduct daily safety talks to include teaching opportunities
  • Report any existing or potential safety concerns to management
  • Maintain constant communication with the Warehouse Manager to ensure workload awareness as well as with other DiVal personnel (Sales, Customer Care and Managers) to maximize shipments and deliveries
  • Assist with the investigation of any issues that question warehouse credibility addressing all concerns with the highest sense of urgency
  • Assist the Warehouse Manager in developing continuous technological improvements working in conjunction with the IT department to improve productivity always maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Coordinate manpower needs by assisting in the recruiting process, providing training, assigning and scheduling duties
  • Communicate job expectations, continually monitoring employees and providing positive feedback and training opportunities; when necessary disciplinary actions up to termination
  • Report directly to the Warehouse Manager
  • Perform additional warehouse duties that may arise and assigned by the Warehouse Manager, including opening and closing duties
  • Willingly participate in further training and certifications as required to meet the future needs of this position

Skills and Requirements -

  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis
  • Possess advanced computer experience, AS400 background preferred
  • Palm pilot / RF training a plus along with formal warehouse equipment training including but not limited to: tow motor, order picker, reach truck and scissors lift
  • High school diploma / GED equivalent
