Behavioral Specialist

Reporting to the executive director, the behavioral specialist is responsible for providing behavioral assessments, and intensive active treatment services to individuals of all ages with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries and/or mental illness. Services include but are not limited to behavioral assessment, plan development and implementation, data collection and behavior consultation and short term active treatment. The behavioral specialist will work in collaboration with, and provide training for, interdisciplinary care providing teams, and natural supports in a strengths based client centered model. The behavioral specialist is also responsible for coordinating the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) clinics.

Position Requirements Essential Functions:
• This position is responsible for providing intensive active behavioral services in an organized, structured, and therapeutic manner which mirrors the goals and philosophy of REACH, Inc., the individual's plan of care, or other applicable service contract.
• This provider will conduct individual assessments including but not limited to; conducting interviews with natural supports and staff members who know the individual served, analyzing available behavioral data, and directly observing the individual served in all relevant settings to identify the target behaviors and the functions of those behaviors.
• Develop a behavior support plan which includes clear definitions of the target behaviors and behavior goals in measureable terms, creation of an appropriate data collection system to measure the target behaviors, clearly describe intervention strategies, and establish quarterly reassessment as needed.
• Will work with a multidisciplinary support team including co-workers at REACH, Independent Care Coordinators, School District and other professionals to provide clear documentation of services, unmet needs, and assist in updating the individual's plan of care as necessary.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments, develop behavior intervention plans, and provide follow-up monitoring and reporting for individuals referred because of high-risk behaviors
• Evaluating crisis situations and implementing appropriate interventions.
• Complete applications to seek funding for Behavior assessment services from Medicaid, private insurance companies.
• Complete and submit claims for billable services provide through REACH accounting in a timely manner.
• Will continuously seek grant opportunities from State, Federal, Foundations, and prepare/submit applications to generate funding for REACH behavioral services.
• Provide training and assist teams in implementing, monitoring and collecting data on behavioral intervention plans across multiple environments
• Provide consultation and general training to assist relative to the development, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of behavior plans and best practices for individuals with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injury and/or mental illness
• Facilitate group-based workshops to holistically address behavioral needs as requested.
• Lead skills group sessions; modeled after Dialectical Behavior Skills Group Curriculum for individuals with intellectual, emotional and mental health challenges
• Coordinate/oversee FASD diagnostic clinics: receive incoming referrals; obtain records and pertinent documentation for each referral; distribute referrals to team members; schedule and facilitate clinic; receive individual provider reports from team members; send completed report to care provider and/or referring agency; and submit b
