About the Organization KMHS is Kitsap's nonprofit, designated community mental health provider for adults with acute and/or chronic serious mental illnesses, and children with serious emotional disturbances and their families. During 2016, KMHS provided services to more than 6,800 children and adults.

Inpatient, residential, and outpatient treatment services offer evidence-based treatment, using trauma informed care to help people reach their recovery goals. We offer whole person care through mental health and substance use treatment and care management, close care coordination with on-campus and community-based primary care providers, and with partner PCHS, now offer dental care to KMHS clients and the community. Many community partners assure people receive behavioral health care in the right place, in the right way, at the right time. Together we are weaving a web that connects emergency room and hospitals, substance abuse treatment, and primary care providers; creates partnerships for early intervention at home and school, supports multiple law enforcement, jail, and justice endeavors, and works to ensure housing, food, and other social supports together with social service agencies and community collaborations.

Description

PURPOSE:
Provide Individual mental health and chemical dependency counseling to seriously emotionally disturbed youth ages 13-25 at Kitsap County Coffee Oasis locations through on-site therapy and in-patient referral. Collaborate, partner and fulfill the mission of both Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) and The Coffee Oasis (TCO) for homeless and at-risk of homeless youth.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provide effective and efficient clinical services, using best practice standards, to eligible youth within a managed care environment.
  • Provide co-occurring mental health and substance abuse services as clinically indicated.
  • Complete and maintain all required appropriate clinical and administrative records in a timely manner.
  • Provide outreach services, as clinically indicated, to eligible youth.
  • Collaborate with TCO youth programs, including shelter, case management and resource center, to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Participate in the implementation of administrative and clinical policies of KMHS and TCO as appropriate.
  • Function as a supportive member of both program teams and participate constructively in problem solving.
  • Provide consultation, education and training for KMHS and TCO staff regarding clinical issues.
  • Provide crisis intervention services when necessary.
  • Actively participate in supervision and training.
  • Respects mission, vision, values and beliefs of TCO.

Position Requirements

Master’s degree in counseling/psychology or related field required. Two years working with children and families preferred. Child Mental Health Specialist and certification preferred. Possess and maintain valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report and reliable, insured transportation.  Ability to work a flexible schedule.
