Under the direction of the Magical Forest Manger the Magical Forest Costume Character will serve as an easily recognizable “signature” representation of the Magical Forest. He / She Entertains guests and promotes Magical Forest on a daily basis throughout the park and at periodic off- site special events. There are evening hours and weekend responsibilities with this position that may require extended hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides entertainment, amusement, and interactive activities for guests the Magical Forest by taking every opportunity to interact with guests throughout the park. Exceeds guest service expectation.
  2. Represents Magical Forest in the best manner possible by maintaining the integrity and artistic value of all presentations when performing in the park and on special events.
  3. Communicates with the Magical Forest Manager regarding the maintenance, care, and storage of all costumes.
  4. Informs MOD or Supervisor of any problems, concerns or delays that may occur.
  5. Learns other roles as required.
  6. Cooperates with all Entertainment.
  7. Follows all park, departmental, and facility procedures.
  8. Must be willing to travel periodically for special events.
  9. Requires the ability to skillfully and effectively communicate solely through action.
  10. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support park and event operations
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Season runs from October through January 1, 2018.

 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Ability to demonstrated enthusiasm and creativity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: One (1) to three (3) years verifiable work experience as a Costume Character is preferred.
  • Required: Experience in customer service field
  • Preferred: Dance and/or movement training is a plus.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of the job.   • Due to scale demands of costume, applicant size must fit the dimensions of the costume, including being between 5’ 5” and 5’ 7” in height (bonafide occupational qualification).
  • Ability to tolerate stress.
  • Ability to move in and withstand wearing hot and heavy costume for up to 40 minutes at a time is necessary.
  • Ability to bend, squat and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work outside in a theme park environment in variable weather conditions.
