About the Organization KMHS is Kitsap's nonprofit, designated community mental health provider for adults with acute and/or chronic serious mental illnesses, and children with serious emotional disturbances and their families. During 2016, KMHS provided services to more than 6,800 children and adults.

Many community partners assure people receive behavioral health care in the right place, in the right way, at the right time. Together we are weaving a web that connects emergency room and hospitals, substance abuse treatment, and primary care providers; creates partnerships for early intervention at home and school, supports multiple law enforcement, jail, and justice endeavors, and works to ensure housing, food, and other social supports together with social service agencies and community collaborations.

Description

PURPOSE:
Coordinate and monitor all shift activities. To make shift staffing and program    assignments.  To implement resident-client treatment plans under the supervision of the Program Manager. To assume major responsibility for ensuring a safe and structured treatment milieu.  To serve as team leader/supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist in implementing goals and maintain a meaningful management information system.
  • Participate in program activities as required.
  • Participate in milieu, group, and family therapy sessions as requested.
  • Assist clinical staff in developing and implementing treatment plans as needed.
  • Conduct intakes and discharges as appropriate.
  • Participate in court hearings as appropriate.
  • Maintain the facility in a safe, orderly, clean and lawful manner and ensure that the unit is in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and contract requirements.
  • Assure completion and submission of all appropriate paperwork during shift in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Coordinate and monitor team meetings and shift-change reports.
  • Schedule staffing coverage for shift.
  • Serve as on-call coverage when needed.
  • Support and comply with the KMHS affirmative action program.
  • Monitor and order supplies as needed.
  • Provide transportation for clients as needed.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop qualified staff including ongoing coaching and conducting performance appraisals.
  • In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s degree in social or behavioral sciences or an equivalent combination of education (BA Degree) and experience; two years experience in relevant field; valid Washington Drivers License and reliable, insured transportation required.  Supervisory experience preferred.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:  While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger or handle, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk or listen and lift up to 50 pounds.  Peripheral vision is also required for this position.

A fair degree of flexibility and strength is required in this position due to the infrequent, yet essential, `take downs` on the unit.
