The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the volunteer programs associated with the Resource Development department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Embrace Opportunity Village core values by cultivating positive and meaningful CONNECTIONS with OVIPs and colleagues, demonstrating ENTHUSIASM, high standards of PRODUCTIVITY, authentic STEWARDSHIP, and consistent participation in individual and team DEVELOPMENT.
  2. Organizes, coordinates and manages the recruitment of volunteers for fundraising events and projects.
  3. Works with local organizations and corporations to develop partnerships and ongoing volunteer engagement.
  4. Develops and implements standards and training for all volunteers.
  5. Maintains updated records on all volunteers utilizing digital and web-based systems.
  6. Reports to volunteer operations manager and fundraising event staff.
  7. Develops and implements volunteer recognition programs and appreciation events.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment, acting as a liaison with multiple internal and external customers.
  • Leadership abilities to organize large groups.
  • Must have a public speaking aptitude for presentations.
  • Time management skills to organization and prioritize office work in combination with volunteer organization during events.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct staff supervisory responsibilities, but does supervise a large volume of volunteers 100+.

 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in communication, business, hospitality or related field.
  • Required: Three or more years more of successful work experience in volunteering, customer service, fundraising, community outreach or a related field.
  • Preferred: Prior experience as volunteer coordinator for public or nonprofit employer.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in event planning.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and interpret verbal communication.
  • Ability to conduct tasks and successfully perform under critical deadlines.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and examine documents, records and files.
