Description

Instructs customers, installs, and repairs small business phone systems. Installs, repairs, maintains CATV network from the node up to and including the customer premise. Installs, repairs, maintains IPTV network from all delivery methods up to and including the customer premise and customer premise equipment. Installs, repairs, maintains other services from the DLC or Central Office up to and including the customer premise. Installs, repairs, maintain PON Network from the FDH up to and including the customer premise. This includes the ONT and associated devices. Installs, repairs, maintains special circuits including data services over various mediums up to the demarc. Installs, repairs, maintains Data Network in residential and small business applications DSL, cable modem, Fiber broadband, wireless. Instructs customer, routine installs, and routine repairs / various customer premise equipment DCT/DVR, surround sound, cable modem, DSL modem, and integrates those devices with the customer's devices/equipment (Television, stereo, VCR, and computer). Provides reports as needed. Assists in directing day to day activities. Responsible for ensuring proper vehicle maintenance and upkeep. Promotes additional equipment and services. Utilization of associated test equipment. After hours on call in a rotational capacity, subject to anytime required. Assists in other areas of the Plant Operations Department as needed. Performs other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall objectives of the department.

 
Position Requirements Experience: Minimum of two to four years related experience and/or training.

Job Knowledge: Associates degree in electronics, engineering, computers or related degree, or successful completion of basic electronics training preferred. Must have demonstrated an ability to quickly grasp technical concepts preferably through I&R experience, special projects in Plant Operations, etc. Should understand the operation of moderately complex tools, machines, and systems, elementary principles underlying the operation of physical systems, and relevant test equipment. Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Must have a knowledgeable working experience with the following software: Windows and MAC OS; MS Word, Excel, Outlook; SOS; IRS; OSP; SRS; Spatial Navigator; WOT; Ceridian; Remedy; Netcracker; TruVizion.

Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use of hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell and lift more than 100 pounds. Vision Requirements: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision and ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus). Working Conditions: Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor shop environment with adequate ventilation or outdoor shop environment. Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.) Outdoors but in an enclosed vehicle protected from extreme weather conditions. Other physical working conditions. May have to work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), near moving mechanical parts, in high or dangerous places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or corrosive chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, vibration, work with laser equipment and moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily technical nature.

Special Demands: Must have a valid state driver's license. Must comply with and maintain compliance with motor vehicle record guidelines as listed within the Background Investigation Guidelines.
