Quality Assurance Inspector Level I

Summary : Soldering and mechanical inspection of assemblies and parts, including mechanical sub-assemblies, top assemblies, cable assemblies and printed wiring boards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs work in-process and final inspection of DME products.

Performs receiving inspection function, and interfaces with Production Control, and Manufacturing to assure timely material flow.

Performs first piece and first article inspection.

Performs printed wiring board assemblies inspection.

Performs wire harness and cable assemblies inspection.

Makes final presentations to customers.

Performs Packaging Inspection.

Tracks material through Inspection Manufacturing floors.

Maintains, files, and stores inspection records.

Suggests and promotes lean principles that can be applied to inspection activities.

Adheres to company’s Core Values: Integrity, Performance and Initiative.

Works within company guidelines including but not limited to what is outlined in the Employee Handbook, Core Values, Safety Manual, OSHA Safety rules, Insider Trading, Conduct and Ethics and Anti-discrimination policies

Communication

Attends and participate the various Quality Assurance meetings or meetings with other Departments in order to achieve common causes.

Coaches and communicates with manufacturing operators to correct and/or prevent inspection defects.

Qualifications:

Holds IPC-A-610 Solder Acceptability Certification.

Holds IPC J-STD-001 Solder Certification.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or (GED) required; one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; and basic inspection knowledge with ability to use standard inspection tools, ability to interpret and work using MIL-Standards used in the inspection of incoming products.

This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation.

Language Ability:

Ability to speak, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in the English language.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to interpret and work using MIL-standards and Industry Standards.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Basic word processing, Internet, Email, use of company’s ERP and other systems needed to perform duties and responsibilities associated with this position.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
