JOB SUMMARY The overriding objective for the Software Quality Engineer will be supporting new and existing development programs for both Cabin Electronics and APC business groups. This position requires considerable knowledge of software engineering principles, theories and concepts in quality assurance, and strong understanding of other engineering disciplines required to develop effective recommendations for quality assurance systems and aid in the implementation of those recommendations. The role of the Software Quality Engineer is to ensure that company software development processes support customer contractual and regulatory requirements, and product quality meets all internally and externally stated requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Knowledgeable in the requirements and objectives of industry standards DO-178C and DO-254. Experienced in how planning documents can satisfy the objectives of external standards. Knowledgeable in Configurations Management concepts, processes, and activities and ability to learn/implement them in different platforms. Participate in the design process, ensuring that plans and processes are followed. Experienced in interfacing directly with suppliers, customers and government personnel to receive/present software quality records, providing software quality program status. Conducting effective supplier system audit (ensure supplier’s quality system meets AES requirements). Conducting effective supplier process validation and conduct effective product audits by reviewing supplier SWQA records or performing SQWA activities for the supplier. Preparing software quality records for all software quality assurance activities. Serve as member of Configuration Control Board on assigned programs. Review all changes in design or process and make sure they still meet customer and regulatory requirements. Support customer and government audits. Ensure company software/hardware development processes support customer contractual and regulatory compliance. Ensure product quality meets all internally and externally stated requirements. Develop effective recommendations for quality assurance systems and aid in the implementation of those recommendations. Ensure vendor processes and plans support contracted and regulatory requirements for software/hardware development. Provide mentorship and guidance to other less experienced SWQEs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 5-8 years related experience. Aerospace experience strongly preferred.
