Description

The Human Resources Recruiter serves point person for the zoo's employment and diversity programs. This role implements, measures and improves recruiting strategy and is responsible for internal/external recruiting management for all job levels (professional, technical, and management positions). This role partners with external organizations to build a capable and diverse pipeline for various positions across the zoo.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain relationships with the following groups: community engagement staff across the zoo, colleges and universities as well as key diversity community based partner organizations.
  • Implement recruiting strategies to build a diverse pipeline for fill full time, temporary, volunteer and internship positions.
  • Act as a primary recruiting point of contact with senior leadership and community partners.
  • Consult with zoo leadership and management team to drive diversity and inclusiveness as well as assisting the zoo in making progress towards our Diversity and Inclusion goals.
  • Responsible for the education of hiring managers on leading diversity and recruiting practices.
  • Develop and track measurable facets of the recruiting and hiring process so that the processes are transparent and measurable. Set continuous improvement goals. Present program performance reporting to key stakeholders as required.
  • Lead the creation of a recruiting and interviewing plan for each open position including review and creation of job descriptions.
  • Challenge current recruiting processes, bringing new ideas, with particular focus on improving the candidate onboarding process, management training & improving relationships with our target schools and key diversity based community organization partners.
  • Partner with Vice President of Human Resources to develop pathways to entry into targeted positions across the zoo.
  • Represent the zoo in various diversity conferences and events. Actively recruit internal managers to represent the zoo and guide them on established recruiting procedures and protocols.
  • Implement sourcing strategies to identify talented candidates, paying particular attention to diversity initiatives. Help drive an increase in diversity employee referral candidates.
  • Maintain a constant and steady focus on the local market place, and share local market intelligence with key stakeholders.
  • Consult on New Employee Orientation and partner with HR staff to enhance onboarding practices across the organization.
  • Utilize the applicant tracking system to capture all recruiting and hiring activity, maintain appropriate documentation and ensure compliance with local, and government legal requirements (i.e. OFCCP).
  • Maintain excellent workplace relationships and strives for the highest levels of customer service; responds to emails, phone calls and other queries in a professional and timely manner.

  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job supervises the HR Specialist, Recruiting.

  • Ability to develop strong partnerships with stakeholders, college career services contacts and diversity based community organizations.
  • Proven recruiting strategy development and execution experience.
  • Strong influencing & negotiation skills with an ability to multi task at a high level.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills, including the ability to comfortably and effectively convey information speaking in front of groups.
  • Successful application of a variety of recruitment, attraction, selection tools and methodologies.
  • Experience utilizing Applicant Tracking Systems (Ascentis preferred).
  • Successful working as part of a team or independently with little direct supervision.
  • Personable with the ability to positively motivate others.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include some evenings and/or weekends as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or equivalent from an accredited college or university; and two or more years of experience focused on developing and implementing diversity recruiting strategies; and four or more years of recruiting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid US driver's license required.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (specifically Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint) with working knowledge of Ascentis or other HRIS systems. Experience with recruiting/applicant tracking programs is highly desirable.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS

Must be enthusiastic and customer service oriented and deal with internal and external customers in a courteous and professional manner. Enjoy working with diverse populations and people of all ages.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, interpret and explain documents such as HR policies, payroll procedures, and safety materials; operating and maintenance instructions; and other procedure manuals. Ability to analyze data and write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to draft and present training materials. Ability to effectively present verbal and written information.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to prepare basic statistical summaries and reports.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The position requires an ability to walk or transit across the 92-acre facility in variable weather conditions, including areas that may be uneven. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch and climb. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee usually works in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels. The employee can also expect some on and off-site meetings with groups and individuals that may include some evenings and/or weekends.
