We operate therapeutic group homes, a treatment foster care program, and family help center located in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and Prince George County. We also service students in our nonpublic special education programs in Baltimore City and Prince George's County. The Children's Guild also operates public charter schools located in Anne Arundel and Baltimore City and will open our first DC charter school in September, 2015. Agency Food Service Coordinator

General Job Description:

Responsible for the management of the agency's food service programs.

Minimum Requirements:

High school graduate with three year school food service managerial experience. Must hold a current Serve Safe Certification. Reliable transportation with a clear, valid drivers license. Basic computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Ability to work independently and take direction as needed. Ability to relate to students, staff, parents, and visitors in a positive manner. Ability to oversee, train and lead the school food service teams.

Accountability: This position is accountable to the Agency Operations Manager.

Key Result Area #1: Leadership

This key result area will be achieved when:

Manage the food service areas to the compliance of the government regulations.

Coordinate and organize all required information for Administrative Reviews, audits and inspection.

Assist and/or instructs food service workers in methods and procedures for performing assigned tasks

Plans, organizes and coordinates the day-to-day operations and activities of the food service areas

Substitute for absent café employees

Must have the ability to operate all functions of the kitchen.

Oversite to the café employees to insure compliance with the local health department, local school authority and the USDA guidelines.

Annual Training to employees

Plan, develop and conduct nutrition education programs for the staff and students

May attend, set up and participate in school or community functions to promote school nutrition programs.

Key Result Area #2: Maintaining the Local Wellness Policy

This key result area will be achieved when:

Coordinates program promotional activities in line with the Local Wellness Policy.

Provide over site to the campus to insure compliance and implementation of the Local Wellness policy.

Key Result Area #3: Ordering and Storage of Food/Non-Food Items

This key result area will be achieved when:

Must have the ability to learn online ordering systems.

Key Result Area #4: Administrative Duties

This key result area will be achieved when:

Agency SNLP Applications are processed through the government sponsored agency. (currently MSDE & OSSE)

Meal Benefit forms are collected and processed annually and upon student admission

Monthly food service invoicing are processed, mailed and payments posted.

Direct Certifications are processed monthly.

Administrative meetings are attended as required by the local government authority.

Insure the HACCP is adhered too.

Confers with supervisor regarding kitchen/café/department needs and operations

Ability to head and understand speech at normal levels

Point of Sale documentation is completed as required

Ability to communicate effectively.

Expectations for positions:

  1. Knowledge of The Guild's missions, policies and procedures
  2. Perform basic mathematical computation accurately
  3. Ability to use Microsoft Suite Programs including Outlook, Publisher, Word, and Excel
  4. Operate a variety of office equipment such as computer hardware, calculator, photocopy, scanner, fax, telephone and related equipment

Workplace conditions:

. Work Basis: Salaried position - 12 months

. Regular attendance adhering to a flexible working schedule

Ability to squat, twist, sit, stoop, kneel, push, pull, crawl and bend at the waist

. Ability to stand for long periods of time

Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
