Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer the Director of the Finance will plan direct and oversee the activities of the Business Office. The Director is responsible for ensuring the entire company's compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide business strategy and financial support to senior management and act as the lead in assisting department directors, managers and executives in the development, implementation and monitoring of the company's operating budget.
  2. Provide direction and leadership to the company's management team to ensure the establishment of sound operational business practices that produce positive methods to ensure all projects and assignments produce accurate results and meet targeted deadlines.
  3. Provide leadership in the development and monitoring of fiscal budgets and operational strategies to produce both short-term and long-term sustainability.
  4. Act as the company's point of contract with all facets of the accounting shared services support operations.
  5. Manage the control environment to ensure it encompasses such things as accounting policies, asset protection, cash handling policies, regulatory & non-profit operations, etc.
  6. Review and ensure financial statements and related financial information is accurately presented in generating reports submitted to the Chief Financial Officer.
  7. Prepare and conduct an analysis of business trends and operations.
  8. Interpret data to produce insights and initiatives to enhance business performance.
  9. Assist with deal structuring, financial modeling and analytics.
  10. Prepare Ad-Hoc report and recurring reports, graphs, and metrics.
  11. Ensure the company's compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) guidelines.
  12. Maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade operating IT-accounting systems.
  13. Support operation's department management in their use and understanding of financial systems and reporting.
  14. Ensure compliance with all internal control aspects of company operations.
  15. Assist in evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency in all aspects of company's financial operations.
  16. Confirm all duties are performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices and procedures.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position supervises the Payroll Manager, Purchasing Manager, Sr. Accountant and Sr. Manager of Compliance.
  • Develop and maintain standards, goals and accountability for the business office staff.
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook, Project and Access; Great Plains, Budget Maestro, Report Writer and general use of office equipment.
  • Must be able to read and write in English fluently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Advanced aptitude of contracting and procurement practices, business law, finance and accounting principles.
  • An aptitude for numbers and financial content.
  • Skill in managing multi-faceted projects to a successful conclusion.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Ability to interpret instructions and deal with multiple variables
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with the organizations leadership and develop and cultivate relationships that will yield positive outcomes for all of the organizations lines of businesses.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration and ten (10) years of verifiable work experience in the field of Finance/Accounting, with a minimum of three (3) years in a management role.
  • Required: Certified Public Accountant
