Category Information Technology  

Role: Independently provide datacenter IT Support on a variety of computer systems, peripheral components, environmental systems, power components, and alert notification systems within the NITC EDC’s. Provides first, second, and third tier support to NITC customers and end users for datacenter services, small and mid-range servers, mainframe, software, and hardware platforms. Problem solver who not only identifies the issues but develops solutions to the identified problem


•Ensure customer satisfaction through the resolution of all issues and problems reported.

•Ticket management, Produce plans, coordinate maintenance and upgrades in support of NITC Infrastructure and customers.

•Optimize the functionality of networks, systems, and reallocate resources independently without error resulting in no impact to our infrastructure or systems/availability.

•Diagnose and recover failed systems and applications individually and direct intermediate level personnel on the knowledge and skills required to perform the task based on expertise.

•Access, execute, and modify jobs and programs, make system and configurations changes, perform system IPL and Reboots via software and hardware methods, manage and respond to power and environmental power and air conditioning failures independently as a senior level IT Specialist.

•Train others

Position Requirements


•Server Operating Systems LINUX (RedHat Preferably) , Windows, AIX, and UNIX

•Storage Area Network (SAN) and/or Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL)

•MVS, Z/OS, or Z/VM on the mainframe environment. The contractor must be able to independently modify configuration panels on the HMC and system consoles in support of customer request to perform system IPL’s, adjust resource availability or respond to WTOR messages.

•Remedy ticketing suite or similar ticketing system, Solar Winds Network Monitoring tool, or a similar tool

•ITIL Foundations V3 certification (within 90 days of hire)
