Staff Development Coordinator 

About the Organization Founded as a preschool in 1953, the Children's Guild has transformed into a national leader, recognized for creating innovative educational, child welfare and behavioral health models that produce positive outcomes for children, youth, and families. Today, the Children's Guild is among the most experienced child serving organizations in the Greater Baltimore/Washington region. Each year, the agency's continuum of care and its 300+ professional staff help thousands of youth and their families achieve resiliency, dignity, and self-sufficiency. We operate therapeutic group homes, a treatment foster care program, and family help center located in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and Prince George County. We also service students in our nonpublic special education programs in Baltimore City and Prince George's County. The Children's Guild also operates public charter schools located in Anne Arundel and Baltimore City and will open our first DC charter school in September, 2015. Talent Development Coordinator

General Description:

The Talent Development Coordinator is a key member of the Talent Development Team, and responsible for the initiation, development, and delivery of the professional development program for all staff members at The Children’s Guild. The focus of the coordinators efforts will be on administering the Pre-Service Training Program, including the organization’s behavior intervention program for all new agency employees. The Coordinator will be able to act independently in completing assigned projects, possess strong organizational, clerical and project management skills as well as, perform related work as required. The Coordinator will also maintain

a value system that is consistent with The Children’s Guild organizational philosophy and mission.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Education or Human Services field and five (5) years experience as an adult educator/ trainer in professional development. Advanced knowledge and skill in
professional child-care and/or education theory and practice, advance research systems,
principles of teaching, learning and organizational excellence.

Strong administrative and record keeping skills. Demonstrated talent in training, coaching and mentoring adults in an educational setting. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Specific knowledge of on-line and web-based learning technologies. The Coordinator will also have a value system that is consistent with The Children’s Guild organizational philosophy, and will assure the implementation and execution of the core TranZed curriculum.

Coordinator must complete the Children’s Guild internal trainer certification program.

Accountability: This position is accountable to the Director of Organizational and Talent Development.

  • Structures and communicates information efficiently and effectively in both oral and written manner.
  • Ability to work well in a highly visible mentoring role, exhibiting full support of the TranZed philosophy.
  • Possesses solid understanding of office procedures, record keeping and software tools for specialized office support work.
  • Ability to arrange priorities and work methodically in order to complete a task effectively and efficiently; bringing together the efforts of self and others to achieve work goals.
  • Completes work thoroughly, accurately, and according to specifications within specified time frames.
  • Accepts suggestions and new ideas to adapt to new methods or changing conditions, with the willingness to be coached or trained.
  • Willing to with others to meet team goals; considerate and respectful of others; share information knowledge, time and other resources.
  • Organizing own work, coordinating projects, setting priorities, meeting deadlines and following up on assignments with a minimum of direction;
  • Collaborates with Staff Development Coordinator to prepare reports, forms, work orders, and other specialized documents related to the organizational learning department.
  • Professional dress attire that aligns with the organization’s appearance policy at all times.
