Description

PCR is immediately hiring a QA Tester in Grand Rapids MI. The Tester will be responsible for benchmarking, testing and verifying a large-scale web-based application. The Tester will also analyze the application for anomalies and flaws, identifying usability issues, develop testing procedures, and maintain testing environments appropriate for the application. The Tester will work toward formalizing the testing process by establishing test plan documents, all with the goal of improving the quality of the applications according to business and technical specifications through intensive primary and regression testing.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and document application test plans based on software requirements and technical specifications.

  • Record and document results and compare to expected results.

  • Detect software failures so that defects may be discovered and corrected.

  • Document software anomalies and manage and track issues.

  • Examine code and execution of code in various environments.

  • Maintain test environments.

  • Work with developers to provide application instructions for users.

  • Create meaningful error-handling procedures for application code.

  • Ensure compliance with general programming best practices, accepted web standards and those standards set forth by upstream sources.

  • Participate in application planning meetings.

 
Position Requirements

Required Educational and Experience qualifications:

  • Understanding of programming and development concepts.

  • Ability to communicate the circumstances of a problem, including relevant error info, images, debug output, and steps to reproduce the problem.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise level software.
  • Ability to find and suggest software usability issues.
  • Familiarity with Wiki and/or Markdown language syntaxes is helpful (for writing online documentation).

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, perform simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The duties may require lifting or manipulating up to 100 pounds with the assistance of mechanical lifts. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
