Coach, 2nd Shift, Manufacturing (Mon-Thur 3:00 p.m.-1:30 a.m.)

The Manufacturing Coach is responsible for the execution phase of operating a safe and cost effective production shift that meets ShurTech’s quality standards. This includes work order sequencing, execution to plan, shift level labor planning, and delivery of product to Distribution. The position involves directing 45-100 hourly partners and associates. The Manufacturing Coach interacts with Planning, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Human Resources, Distribution, and outside suppliers. The Coach is responsible for driving performance and continuous improvement in all assigned work centers.



  • Maximizes labor performance for the shift and scheduling of the existing work force. This includes cross training Partners.

  • Hold the team accountable to meet performance metrics.

  • This includes balancing the workflow and minimizing overtime.

  • Reviews weekly labor and machine efficiency reports and address concerns at the work center.

  • Evaluate scrap generation and seek solutions to minimize scrap where possible.

  • Review Work Center downtime. Address concerns.

HR & Communication of HR Related Matters

  • Consistent support of ShurTech policies and procedures with hourly production partners.

  • Lead training initiatives for the shift.

  • SAP Confirmations

  • Support ShurTech’s culture and values by promoting communication, teamwork, and respectful treatment of all individuals.

  • Provide performance feedback, recognize positive contributions, and complete the annual performance reviews.

  • Manage time and attendance administration for the production hourly partners.

Operational Communication

  • Communicate daily with Materials Management to maximize ShurTech’s ability to service the customer while optimizing labor efficiency.

  • Communicate throughout the shift with hourly partners and associates to ensure a constant exchange of ideas and information. Provide constructive feedback.


  • Oversee work center quality initiatives and communicate and recommend solutions to identified issues.


  • Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are followed. This includes accident reporting, investigation, primary cause analysis, corrective action, implementation, and follow up. Initiates monthly safety audits on assigned months.

  • Facilitates safety sub committees as assigned

Continuous Improvement

  • Identification and execution of improvements in the manufacturing process


  • Support the maintenance work order/PM program. Reconcile SAP errors and confirmations on a daily basis. Provide training when needed.

  • Involvement with the monthly financial closing.

  • Manage shift involvement with raw material handling.

  • Cycle Counts

  • Equipment usage

  • Support housekeeping and 5S initiatives.

  • Involvement with special projects as assigned by the Production Manager.

  • Support and oversee Production Trials.

  • BS or BA deggree
  • 1+ years of experience in front-line supervision.
  • Possess excellent communication and conflict management skills.
  • Strong people and leadership skills.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems, material management, product flow, and record/labor keeping.
  • Must be able to embrace change.
  • Experience using SAP on the shop floor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization

  • Work requires hearing, mental and visual attention
  • Able to lift 50 pounds, able to bend and lift frequently, and able to work aroudn dust


This is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment. Many duties list above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion.
