In 2001, Fenway launched The Fenway Institute, an interdisciplinary center for research, training, education and policy development focusing on national and international health issues, especially related to LGBT communities.

In 2009, Fenway moved into the Ansin Building, the largest LGBT health care, research and education facility in the world, and an anchor institution in Boston's thriving Fenway neighborhood.

In 2010, Fenway welcomed the Sidney Borum, Jr. Health Center into the Fenway family. The Borum serves teens and young adults ages 12-29, and is a safe place for at-risk youth, including LGBT young people, homeless teens and young adults, those struggling with substance abuse, involved with gangs or doing sex work.

In 2013, the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts also became a part of Fenway Health. AIDS Action serves people living with HIV/AIDS and populations at risk of infection, and leads the state's Getting To Zero Coalition, which seeks to reduce the number of HIV infections to zero. It also operates a needle exchange that serves as an entry point to healthcare services for active substance users.
Position Part Time Study Therapist  
Full-Time/Part-Time Part-Time  

This is a paid hourly position (up to 18 hours per week, or 50% FTE). This position is not benefits eligible.

Under the direction of the investigators, the part-time Study Therapist will provide manualized counseling to study participants enrolled in a behavioral HIV prevention intervention trial. Study participants namely include men who have sex with men with active stimulant abuse who are at heightened sexual risk for HIV acquisition.

Typical Duties include: Delivering study-specific manualized counseling to study participants; Monitoring participant well-being; Strictly adhering to study intervention manuals and study protocols; Completing relevant documentation following counseling sessions; Participating in regular individual and/or group clinical supervision

Additional Duties include: Assessing site needs for intervention start-up; Taking initiative to prepare site for study operations; Conducting pre and post-test HIV counseling and testing; Supporting day-to-day operations of study protocol including recruitment/retention, study visits, data storage and monitoring and other study activities

Position Requirements
  • MA/MS/MSW in psychology, mental health, or behavioral science aspects of public health (or equivalent degree in a related field) OR completing one of these degrees in 2017.
  • 1-2 years of counseling experience with training in CBT or other evidence-based treatments strongly preferred
  • Experience with substance abuse counseling strongly preferred
  • Experience working in federally funded human subjects research strongly preferred
  • Familiarity and comfort with sexual health issues and other health disparities facing sexual minority individuals at high-risk for HIV acquisition
  • Good interpersonal and communication/counseling (written and verbal) skills
  • Strong attention to detail, superior work ethic, professionalism and organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Power-Point, Excel, Outlook) required with the willingness to master new software applications and technologies
  • Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals, including sexual or gender minority individuals
