About the Organization KMHS is Kitsap's nonprofit, designated community mental health provider for adults with acute and/or chronic serious mental illnesses, and children with serious emotional disturbances and their families. Description

PURPOSE:
Maintain buildings, vehicles and equipment in good operating condition and to ensure that all grounds are kept in a presentable manner at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Work independently and perform all work in an efficient and organized manner with minimum supervision.
  • Daily monitoring of grounds and parking areas for litter, trash and debris removal.
  • Perform landscaping maintenance by; cutting grass, edging around walks and flower beds; trimming of shrubs and trees; apply fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides; water and plant grass, flowers, shrubs and trees; removal of leaves, branches and brush; weeding flower beds, around shrubbery, or any other required area.
  • Haul, move and store office furniture and equipment. Perform minor wall repairs and painting when needed.
  • Clean gutters, drains and culverts. Snow and ice removal from sidewalks, drives and parking areas.
  • Perform routine or periodic cleaning, maintenance and repair tasks as needed to keep landscaping equipment in good operating condition.
  • Perform all custodial functions when required, especially hard floor and carpet maintenance.
  • Utilize proper personal protection equipment. Maintain all applicable material safety data sheets and follow all chemical or pesticides labeling, mixing and use instructions and regulations.
  • Learn the duties of a facilities technician and assist facilities technicians when required in repairs and maintenance of facilities, equipment, vehicles and building systems.
  • Report all damage to equipment or facility, suspicious activity, security risks, or safety hazards promptly to supervisor.
  • In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Basic knowledge, training, and experience in proper grounds keeping and gardening techniques preferred.  Knowledge of proper watering and fertilizing techniques, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and painting an asset.  Must possess and maintain valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report, and reliable personal transportation with business-rated insurance.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:  While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or listen.  Requires the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.  This position also requires close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  Some responsibilities may be near moving mechanical parts and exposed fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration.

 
Salary $12.14 per hour
