Description

Videographer/Photographer/Editor

Department: Media & Communications

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Job Status: Full-time

Schedule: 9am- 5pm

Reports to: Legal Director

Travel: 10%

The Videographer/Photographer/Editor will shoot, edit, convert and upload content to appropriate websites, and create several documentaries. The Videographer/Photographer/Editor will also assist with writing titles, descriptions, closed captioning and tags for photos and videos.

Essential Functions

The Videographer/Photographer/Editor performs a wide range of duties, including the following:

  • Operate, maintain, and set-up all photography, video, audio and lighting equipment;
  • Possesses a strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative and be proactive;
  • Comfortable working with different personalities, new people and subject matter experts;
  • Research industry and competitor trends and suggest new content ideas;
  • Interview individuals and attend meetings to obtain items for publication;
  • Collaborate with internal departments on projects and assignments;
  • Craft stories that are consistent with DRNY’s photography, mission, and communication goals;
  • Pack, and transport video camera, tripods, lighting, microphones, and other associated equipment to all sites and other necessary locations;
  • Conduct a handheld photo or video recording of the street and other exterior scenes;
  • Take still photographs for DRNY events both internal and external (outreach) events;
  • Capture staff photos to create DRNY ID cards with Assure ID software;
  • Work with interpreters on American sign language;
  • Operate teleprompter – known as Magicue;
  • Manage media by importing and backing up all media files;
  • Editing and creating videos by using Final Cut Pro X software;
  • Collaborate with DRNY Directors and attorneys through the post production process;
  • Export, compress, and upload videos and photographs to unlisted and public internet sites;
  • Record interviews, CLE’s, internal meeting, and conferences through video and audio

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Cinematography and Film, or related field is preferred;
  • Must be proficient using specialized software such as - Final Cut Pro X, and Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign);
  • Must have experience filming, directing and editing video;
  • Proficient using a PC and MAC based computer;
  • Proficient using DLSR, video, audio and lighting equipment;
  • Ability to work in a creative, fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with innate attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently on projects and also collaborate as a strong team member.

Working Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to travel throughout New York State, with occasional overnights as needed. There may be some out of state travel.
