The mission of the VP of IT is to ensure fast, predictable, secure and uninterrupted technology service that delivers value to the business providing flexibility, ensuring the company is agile and quick to market. The VP of IT is responsible for aligning all technology initiatives with the objectives of the business, fostering innovation that creates competitive advantage, enhancing the customer experience, supporting business development, and improving cost effectiveness. A key component of the technology leadership will be the ability to lead the execution of the development and deployment of the company's mobile and web channels. This position is responsible for measuring, assessing and minimizing the negative effects (both individual and cumulative) technology can pose to enterprise earnings, capital and the overall reputation of the organization, its Board of Directors, owners, Executives, managers and employees by ensuring minimal risk of failure or loss resulting from inadequate or failed infrastructure or systems.

The VP of IT will be involved in all major business initiatives and strategic groups and teams, including but not limited to the IT Oversight Committee, the IT Strategic Planning Committee, and the Projects & Initiatives Committee.

The VP of IT will deliver balanced IT service based on these key objectives:

  1. Innovation and strategic alignment
  2. Compliance with laws and regulations
  3. Balanced risk mitigation
  4. Assurance for reliability of financial reporting

The VP of IT will display active leadership across the entire enterprise and successfully interface with all business units and departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Assist in the development of standardized, systematic and dynamic applications and Information Technology (IT) infrastructures that are out-come focused and customer centric
  • Development, maintenance and implementation of the IT strategic plan
  • Continuous evaluation of applications and technology to maintain integrity, security, and customer experience
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive technology budget
  • Develop key IT Operations metrics to measure and report overall technology performance within the organization
  • Strong knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Preparing the enterprise for technology risks associated with business interruption and disaster recovery
  • Managing the distribution of data within the organization
  • Develop innovation strategies that allows for the proper development and support of new applications and technology infrastructure
  • Develop comprehensive change management processes, methodology and standards for flawless execution and delivery
  • Manage the successful implementation of large scale, cross functional, strategic technology projects and initiatives
  • Plan and oversee technology components of acquisition and expansion initiatives
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and arbitrate cross-functional macro level technology topics, often including key business stakeholders and senior management
  • Maintaining positive regulatory relationships
  • Develop professional development plans for technology staff ensuring proper skills and competencies are maintained to support strategic goals and objectives
  • Structure, maintain and oversee a formal technology internship program allowing the organization to recruit emerging technology talent
  • Staying abreast of regulatory and industry rules, guidance and best practices as they relate to security and technology management
  • Maintaining awareness of new and emerging threats to the business and/or industry
  • Consults with and advises Managers, Executives and the Board of Directors on the impacts of risk, legal and regulatory issues or changes impacting technology operations
  • Works with the Training Department to develop and implement technology related educational programs
  • Providing regular and consistent reports to Management and the Board of Directors related to the status of the technology and projects
  • Providing straightforward, reliable communications to Executives about the dangers and opportunities related to technology
  • Promote a culture of 'grow' versus a culture of 'no'
  • Being committed to responsible profit generation

Other Responsibilities:

Perform other related duties as required or assigned that are in the spirit of this job description and position as necessary for the Bank and the Department to function effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will have management and leadership responsibilities.
