Description

Koniag Technology Solutions (KTS) is immediately hiring a CICS Systems Programmer for our Baltimore MD location. This is a direct, full-time position with our company working at our customer’s site. The hours are Monday-Friday, 8.5 hrs./day within the core hours of 6am-6pm, to include a 1/2-hr. nonbillable meal break.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a client-sponsored HSPD-12 Suitability Clearance

This task provides systems programming support to administer, customize, and troubleshoot the CICS architecture. The task also provides support during disaster recovery exercises.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer a large CICS production environment (sysplex mainframe environment) across multiple datacenters
  • Administer 3rd-party systems software, including CICS system utilities, along with application software development libraries (COBOL, JCL, PROC’s, PARM’s, copybooks)
  • Develop, design, maintain, test, document and deploy CICS systems-level and application software features and changes
  • Create new or modify existing CICS regions in support of new applications or CICS architecture re-engineering initiatives
  • Provide problem resolution, including diagnosis and root-cause analysis of CICS application software problems, configuration, and/or software-related problems
  • Install and mainain tallation and maintenance of CICS software and third party vendor software to maintain a reliable and stable infrastructure.
 
Position Requirements

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • 7 years of hands-on experience performing CICS installations, maintenance and migrations; experience troubleshooting same
  • 7-10 years of experience with CICS systems programming in a mainframe environment
  • Strong CICS performance-tuning background – ability to proactively monitor and adjust CICS performance and utilization
  • Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills within a complex, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to find and remediate CICS application interdependencies
  • Experience upgrading CICS/TS regions to newer releases
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (excellent written/oral command of English); able to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Preevious experience in the following: z/OS/MVS, JES3, VTAM, RACF, TSO/ISPF, RMM and other IBM and 3rd-party vendor mainframe software

Desireable:

  • Ability to program in Assembler, REXX, and COBOL
  • Knowledge of Unix Systems Services (USS)

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, perform simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
