Description

Koniag Technology Solutions (KTS) has an exciting opportunity for a DB2 Systems Programmer to join our team in Baltimore MD. This is a direct, full-time position with our company working at our customer’s site. The hours are Monday-Friday, 8.5 hrs./day within the core hours of 6am-6pm, to include a 1/2-hr. nonbillable meal break. Occasional weekend work may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The DB2 Systems Programmer is part of a team that supports performance testing and troubleshooting of applications developed using CICS and web-based platforms.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Update any systems of the client’s Online Software Release Form (OSRF) of record required by the client to release software
  • In accordance with software release schedules, the contractor shall:
    • Review progress of change records to ensure timely migration to / installation in the appropriate Integration environment. Software is scheduled for testing on daily basis.
    • Report testing progress via appropriate venues -- Team Leads and Branch Chief once the testing is complete
    • Effectively interface with all division branches and appropriate testing individuals to ensure migration of workloads to appropriate integration test environments per agreed-upon timelines
    • Attend appropriate release coordination meetings.

In order to effectively perform the job, the contractor shall possess demonstrated knowledge of, and previous experience in, the following:

  • Supporting online transactions for an enterprise/large-scale environment utilizing z/OS operating system
  • Utilizing Customer Information Control System (CICS) technology and the Work Load Simulator (WSIM) tool
  • Knowledge of Job Entry Subsystem (JES/JES2) technology and CA Integrated Database Management System (IDMS)
  • Utilizing TSO (Time Sharing Option)/ISPF (Interactive System Productivity Facility) technology to perform various tasks including (but not limited to) submitting/monitoring jobs via JES and creating datasets
  • Developing, modifying and troubleshooting JCL (Job Control Language)
  • Utilizing IBM DB2 and DB2 utilities such as, but not limited to: SQL Processing Using File Input (SPUFI) and/or Unicenter for data management tasks
  • Developing, modifying and troubleshooting Structured Query Language (SQL) statements
  • Creating and/or modifying Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM) datasets using utilities such as FileAid/AbendAid
  • Knowledge and experience of the following within an enterprise or large-scale environment:
    • Data management techniques
    • Performance testing methodologies
    • Troubleshooting/resolving problems with application code, data management issues and wide-ranging issues impacting the execution of successful performance testing
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a large-scale multi-LPAR multi-system environment, software development lifecycle (SDLC) environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with enterprise-level change management practices, procedures and tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using HP LoadRunner, QuickTest Professional or Unified Functional Testing (QTP/UFT), Selenium, Cucumber, JavaTest (J-unit)
  • Knowledge of Agile/DevOps methodologies.

 
Position Requirements

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technology (equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of degree)
  • 5-7 years previous experience

Required Technical Skills

  • Develop and/or modify new or existing WSIM test scripts and/or automated test scripts

  • Provide test data support for the execution of high-volume performance testing and/or automated test scripts

  • Execute and/or monitor low/high volume WSIM performance tests and/or automated test scripts

  • Execute jobs needed to support test data needs for performance testing and/or automated test scripts

  • Troubleshoot WSIM/performance testing script issues, data management issues, and/or automated test scripts

  • Convert or assist with the conversion of WSIM scripts to modern platforms such as HP LoadRunner, QuickTest Professional or Unified Functional Testing (QTP/UFT), Selenium, Cucumber, and JavaTest (J-unit)

  • Monitor and provide reports on performance testing using WSIM, Strobe, and/or automated test scripts

  • Re-baseline test data required for high-volume testing and/or automated test scripts

  • Write ad hoc SQL/JCL to support performance testing (including automated test scripts)

  • Document, update, and implement test plans (including automated test scripts).

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, perform simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required in connection with the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
