Description

Transportation BOLC Instructors provide instruction at the Army Logistics University (ALU). Transportation BOLC Instructors train officers on the latest information and technology to the highest standards. Instructors ensure the combat commander is supported during Army, joint, and combined operations by providing logistics officers who are skilled and technically competent. Transportation BOLC Instructors support learning and present an environment that encourages critical thinking through leading practical exercises.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: (Pulled from PWS)

  • Provide training on planning the movement of personnel and equipment, conducting transportation operations at the company level (deployment planning and tactical convoy operations), planning movement management in a theater of operations, conducting motor transport planning, implementing distribution management procedures, identifying unit movement officer responsibilities and conducting tactical convoy operations

  • Perform CLS duties during field training exercises

  • Drive GSA vehicles

  • Support department administrative actions

  • Assist with any practical exercises or field training exercises

  • Schedule, prepare, set up, and draw equipment during the preparation phase; assist with and evaluate during the execution phase; tear down, collect, and turn in all equipment during the recovery phase associated with indoor and outdoor field events and graduations

  • Assist students during logistics and field exercises, computer simulations, and student projects by the use of their leadership and sustainment expertise

  • Provide remediation as required for students needing additional instruction

  • Review and recommend changes to lesson plans

  • Perform reviews of assigned draft doctrinal manuals to contribute to doctrinal development

  • Determine requirements for support troops, tactical vehicles, weapons, communications, sound, visual and special equipment, as well as specialized equipment identified in the Training Resource Management Scheduling System (TRMSS) and Letter of Instruction (LOIs) for special events

  • Analyze scheduling, equipment and facility support

  • Recommend solutions to alleviate conflicts and follow through on adjustments to de-conflict schedule

  • Attend training meetings and coordination meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior military service at a rank of O-3/CW2 or E7 and above

  • One year experience teaching, development, or reviewing course material, training aids, and manuals for military training programs.

  • Four years prior military service in the last ten years

  • Honorably separated from service

  • Proficient in MS Office computer software programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Possesses outstanding communicative skills (verbal and nonverbal)

  • Knowledgeable of all applicable regulations and doctrines regarding military officer training.

  • Proficient in all aspects of modules of instruction

  • Qualified based on instructor certification requirements as outlined in TRADOC Regulation 350-1, CASCOM Certification SOP, and ALU SOP

  • Shall be physically fit and able to perform duties regarding moderate lifting (not to exceed 45 lbs), long periods of standing, sitting or walking, and endure inclement weather conditions on occasion

  • Deployment experience (operational or combat) in last 7 years

  • Previously held MOS 90A, Logistics Officer or 88 series

  • Ability to complete Combat Lifesaver Course within 90 days of start date

  • Ability to complete Unit Movement Operation Deployment Planning Course (UMODPC) within 90 days of start date

  • Ability to become range certified at Fort Lee, VA and Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA within 60 days from start date

  • Ability to become HMMV Egress Assistance Trainer (HEAT) Simulation Certified within 30 days of start date

  • Knowledge of supply methodologies and practices

  • Ability to operate a personal computer and be proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Physically fit and able to perform duties regarding moderate lifting (not to exceed 45 lbs), long periods of standing, sitting or walking, and standing for extended periods of time, up to eight hours per day, in inclement weather conditions while wearing personal protective equipment

  • Ability to be certified to drive a military and GSA vehicle within 60 days after start date

  • Knowledge of and experience in, and ability to assist with conducting mounted/dismounted warrior tasks and battle drills of reacting to contact, breaking contact, hasty vehicle recovery, reacting to ambush and convoy operations (including resourcing, planning, and organization of a convoy) and ability to assist in an applicable practical exercise/scenario

Desired Qualifications:

Clearance: Must pass a Tier 1 investigation that has been favorably adjudicated by the DoD CAF (or locally) for CAC eligibility and network access (IT-3 access for government.mil email account).
