Description

Logistics Captain Career Course (LOG-C3)/Reserve Component Captain Career Course (RC4) Instructors/Small Group Leaders (SGLs) provide instruction at the Army Logistics University (ALU). LOG-C3/RC4 Instructors train officers on the latest information and technology to the highest standards. Instructors ensure the combat commander is supported during Army, joint, and combined operations by providing logistics officers who are skilled and technically competent.

LOG-C3/RC4 Instructors provide performance oriented training. Training provided can be classroom training and/or field exercise training or combat scenario driven live-fire training in a realistic but safe environment. LOG-C3/RC4 Instructors provide small group instruction to a combined branch mix of students.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: (Pulled from PWS)

  • Conduct performance oriented training using the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) approved LOG-C3/RC4 program of instruction (POI)

  • Provide classroom, hands-on, simulation/virtual, and scenario driven instruction

  • Provide instruction on both common core topics and multifunctional sustainment

  • Provide training development services

  • Participate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the revising of the POIs, Lesson Plans, and Training Support Packages (TSPs) to remedy any deficiencies or shortcomings identified during the preparation for and conduct of instruction

  • Conduct POI review, recommend redline changes to POI, recommend redline changes to new lesson plans, recommend redline changes to old or outdated lesson plans

  • Study current doctrine and lessons learned in order to stay current with the operational force when students are not present or there is a class break

  • Grade individual Concept of Support briefs and group briefs.

  • Provide assessments and evaluations of student performance in accordance with the POI

  • Tailor individual training sessions to create situations requiring the student to perform techniques in areas of weakness

  • Coordinate with the Government to determine the approach to use for instruction, considering the prior experience and personality of individual students.

  • Prepare training materials, set up classrooms, and deliver instruction

  • Maintain class records, write, validate, administer, and score examinations

  • Maintain counseling records for all assigned students

  • Establish proper administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to ensure the security and confidentiality of records

  • Participate in simulation training exercises as required

  • Use doctrinal, sustainment, tactical, and command expertise and personal experience to supplement or enhance course materials to the extent to which they contribute to the course

  • Assist students during classroom assignments of case studies, practical exercises, tactical logistics exercises, computer simulations, and student projects by the use of their leadership and military expertise

  • Document and address with the LOG-C3/RC4 Team Leader any class situations such as student absences, lack of individual or group participation, or other unusual situations that adversely affect student performance

  • Perform reviews of assigned draft doctrinal manuals to contribute to doctrinal development and review and recommend changes to instructional materials in specific assigned subject areas

  • Administer and ensure security of exams and practical exercises

  • Administer up to two Army Physical Readiness Training (APFTs) per class. The test will be administered in accordance with FM 7-22, APFT

  • Ensure each student fills out and turns in a course evaluation

  • Write Academic Evaluation Reviews for all students in their team

  • Participate in graduation exercises

  • Augment the Tactical Logistics Exercise and/or Operational Logistics Exercise and have the responsibility for planning, coordinating resources, and assisting in executing a multi-echelon simulation training exercise

  • Counsel students, including counseling students at the end of the phase using the DA Form 1059, Service School Academic Evaluation Report and during the phase, as required, using the DA Form 4856, Developmental Counseling Form

  • Provide remediation as required for students needing additional instruction

  • Provide classroom support which may include: preparing classroom or training area; reviewing lesson plans, subject matter material; inserting and removing faults impairments and problems; picking up and returning training aids/devices; maintaining equipment modifications implantation and updating training aids/devices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Seven years prior military service.

  • Prior military service at a rank of O-3 or above

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

  • Graduate of CLC3 or US Army Advance Course Equivalent

  • At least one year company command (validated by HRC)

  • Held one or more of the following positions in addition to company command: logistics rfficer, support operations officer, battalion or brigade S4, accountable officer, maintenance officer, supply officer, petroleum officer, operations officer, or plans officer

  • One year experience teaching, development, or reviewing course material, training aids, and manuals for military training programs.

  • Proficient in MS Office computer software programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Possesses outstanding communicative skills (verbal and nonverbal)

  • Knowledgeable of all applicable regulations and doctrines regarding military officer training.

  • Honorably separated from service

  • Previously held MOS 90A, Logistics Officer

  • Proficient in all aspects of CLC3/RC4 to facilitate any phase of instruction

  • Qualified based on instructor certification requirements as outlined in TRADOC Regulation 350-1, CASCOM Certification standard operating procedures (SOP), and ALU SOP

  • Physically fit and able to perform duties regarding moderate lifting (not to exceed 45 lbs), long periods of standing, sitting or walking, and endure inclement weather conditions on occasion.

  • Ability to complete FDP1 and FDP2 courses within 6 months of start date

  • Deployment experience (operational or combat) in last 7 years

Desired Qualifications:

Clearance: Must pass a Tier 1 investigation that has been favorably adjudicated by the DoD CAF (or locally) for CAC eligibility and network access (IT-3 access for government.mil email account).
