Description

Tactics Training Technicians assist with field exercises at the Army Logistics University (ALU). Tactics Training Technicians train officers on the latest information and technology to the highest standards. They ensure the combat commander is supported during Army, joint, and combined operations by providing logistics officers who are skilled and technically competent. Tactics Training Technicians support learning in an environment that encourages critical thinking through leading practical exercises.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: (Pulled from PWS)

  • Assist in conducting mounted and dismounted warrior tasks and battle drills of reacting to contact, breaking contact, hasty vehicle recovery, reacting to ambush) and convoy operations (including resourcing, planning, and organization of a convoy)

  • Assist in conducting Basic and Advanced Rifle Marksmanship

  • Assist with assembly/disassembly of the M-16A2, M-4 Carbine, M249 SAW, M240B, and M2 .50 Caliber machine gun; performing the four fundamentals of marksmanship: breathing, sight picture, trigger squeeze, and body position; conducting immediate action for a malfunction on M16, M249, M240B, M2; reflexive fire techniques, and zeroing an M16 / M4 on a 25-meter range as necessary for training purposes

  • Assist in conducting counter improvised explosive device (CIED) and Electronic Warfare (EW) training.

  • Drive military tactical vehicles and GSA vehicles

  • Create, operate, and train students in VBS3 scenarios

  • Issue equipment and account for equipment in accordance with AR 710-2 and DA Pam 710-2-1

  • Assist with any practical exercises or field training exercises at any time

  • Assist students during logistics and field exercises, computer simulations, and student projects by the use of their leadership and sustainment expertise

  • Document and address with the BOLC Tactics Course Manager any situations such as absences, lack of individual or group participation, or other unusual situations that adversely affect student performance.

  • Provide remediation as required for students needing additional instruction.

  • Review and recommend changes to lesson plans

  • Plan and coordinate instructional training and support requirements

  • Ensure all resource requirements have been planned, coordinated and approved

  • Determine requirements for support troops, tactical vehicles, weapons, communications, sound, visual and special equipment, as well as specialized equipment identified in the Training Resource Management Scheduling System (TRMSS) and Letter of Instruction (LOIs) for special events

  • Analyze scheduling, equipment and facility support

  • Recommend solutions to alleviate conflicts, follows through on adjustments to de-conflict schedule

  • Attend training meetings involving programs of instruction and recommend solutions when problems occur in developing schedule.

  • Conduct and attend coordination meetings

  • Facilitate execution of tactical field exercises and weapons ranges

    Required Qualifications:

  • Prior military service at a rank of E-5 or above

  • Must have held one of the following MOSs: 11 series, 12 series, 13 series, 18 series, 19 series, or logistics MOS

  • Ability to complete Ammo Handling Course within 60 days of start date

  • Ability to become range certified at Fort Lee, VA and Fort A.P. Hill VA within 60 days of start date

  • Ability to become HMMV Egress Assistance Trainer (HEAT) Simulation Certified within 30 days of start

  • Knowledge of supply methodologies and practices

  • Ability to operate a personal computer and be proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Physically fit and able to perform duties regarding moderate lifting (not to exceed 45 lbs), long periods of standing, sitting or walking, and standing for extended periods of time, up to eight hours per day, in inclement weather conditions while wearing personal protective equipment.

  • Score of 4 of 5 points on individual land navigation test, and shoot 30/40 on rifle qualification range within 60 days after start date.

  • Knowledge of, experience in, and ability to assist with conducting Basic and Advanced Rifle Marksmanship. Ability to assist with the following: Assembly/Disassembly M-16A2, M-4 Carbine, M249 SAW, M240B, M2 .50 Caliber machine gun; perform the four fundamentals of marksmanship: breathing, sight picture, trigger squeeze, and body position; conduct immediate action for a malfunction on M16 (S.P.O.R.T.S.), M249, M240B, M2 (P.O.P.S.); Reflexive Fire techniques; and zero an M16 / M4 on a 25-meter range

  • Knowledge of, experience with, and the ability to assist with conducting of counter improvised explosive device (CIED) and Electronic Warfare (EW) training.

  • Knowledge of CIED tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and electronic warfare devices (DUKE, Jukebox, Thor, etc.)

  • Experience in conducting troop leading procedures, experience conducting dismounted land navigation which includes: plotting an 8-digit grid, identifying major and minor terrain features, converting azimuths from grid to magnetic and magnetic to grid, describing the marginal data of a military map, determining grid location via intersection and resection techniques, determining straight line distance on map, determining road distance on a map, field expedient navigation techniques and ability to assist with land navigation training

  • Knowledge of, experience in, and ability to assist with conducting mounted/dismounted warrior tasks and battle drills of reacting to contact, breaking contact, hasty vehicle recovery, reacting to ambush and convoy operations (including resourcing, planning, and organization of a convoy) and ability to assist in an applicable practical exercise/scenario

  • Ability to be certified to drive a military and GSA vehicle within 60 days after start date

Desired Qualifications:

Clearance: Must pass a Tier 1 investigation that has been favorably adjudicated by the DoD CAF (or locally) for CAC eligibility and network access (IT-3 access for government.mil email account).
