Senior Premium Auditor (Albuquerque, NM) 

Description
Summary of duties and responsibilities: Auditor will calculate the final earned premium on auditable policies. To develop this information the auditor will routinely meet with policyholders, agents and underwriters. This would include addressing questions, problems, or disputes that arise throughout the process.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Upon receipt of assigned audits, reviews and arranges work to maximize travel and client on-site time efficiency. Auditor will also work on mail audits. This will require mail audits sent out to insureds for them to fill out on their own and return to auditor with all required documentation.
  • Schedule and complete audits based on company turn-around time requirements.
  • Obtain a detailed description of operations, verify policy classifications, and determine the exposure for each classification in order to develop the proper premium basis and ensure conformity to various state laws and insurance regulations.
  • Review underwriting files and documentation to determine specific coverages provided by the policy and develop an appropriate audit strategy.
  • Actively collaborate with underwriters, agents, and members of the audit/loss control team in support of our underwriting bottom line.
  • Upon completion, audit is submitted electronically according to company procedure.
  • Actively communicate with underwriter and/or Manager when any unusual matters or changes in operations or financial condition are identified.
  • Submit mileage and expense reports as prescribed in company procedures.
  • Review all communications such as bulletins and manual pages to keep up-to-date with rules and classifications.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of modern accounting systems/software and accounting principles and professional and personal development through guidance and education.
  • Undertake special projects and assignments as required.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
 
Position Requirements
Education, prior work experience, and specialized skills and knowledge:
  • Experience conducting insurance premium audits, minimum 3-5 years preferred
  • APA, CIPA, CPCU designations preferred
  • Must have a strong background in Property & Casualty insurance
  • Strong working knowledge of NCCI Workers’ Compensation and ISO General Liability rules, manuals, and industry practices
  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping concepts – proficiency in verifying premium basis by review of ledgers, state or federal quarterly records, financial statements, and other accounting records
  • Proficient and adaptive with laptop/desktop computers, MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, etc.), and Quickbooks
  • Effective written and oral communications skills, strong math abilities, and creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to project a level of professional confidence and demonstrate consulting resolution skills
  • Highly organized with superior time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and/or remotely with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to travel overnight 50-70% during the month

Sitting for extended periods of time in car and at computer.
