THE OPPORTUNITY

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation is seeking a dynamic and energetic Development Officer, Philanthropy to join our Leadership Giving team.

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Development Officer, Philanthropy will be responsible for helping current and future donors achieve their philanthropic objectives and successfully raise more funds for Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital The ideal candidate for this position will be an entrepreneurial, creative, and personable individual with a passion for the cause.

ABOUT HOLLAND BLOORVIEW KIDS REHABILITATION HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation is the largest foundation in Canada dedicated to supporting childhood disability. Established in 1996 to inspire community interest and raise funds in support of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, our focus is to improve the quality of life for children with disabilities. Located within the Hospital in Toronto, the Foundation has a staff of 23 professionals to accomplish its objectives.

Thanks to generous donors, our Foundation raises approximately $10 million dollars annually for Holland Bloorview and supports the areas of care, research, quality of life programming, capacity building and client and family-centred care. Donor funds help kids with disabilities receive the best care possible while accessing innovative technologies and stimulating quality of life programs to help them realize their unlimited potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the Director of Philanthropy and senior volunteers in executing leadership giving strategies.
  • Actively builds and manages a pool of 150+current and future donors through effective outreach, relationship management, solicitation and stewardship.

  • Identifies new potential donors to build the leadership giving pipeline.

  • Develops individualized cultivation strategies for each prospect for review by Director of Philanthropy.

  • Prepares effective major gift materials, such as briefing notes, proposals, letters and reports that are compelling, accurate, professional and on brand.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of records and actions in donor database for prospects and donors and actively utilize for moves management purposes.

  • Positively represents Holland Bloorview in the community.

  • Manages and participates in tours, events and committee meetings as required.

  • Manage Planned Giving program.

  • Other duties as required.

    Relationships

  • Work with external fundraisers and volunteers and provide a good experience by being responsive, clear and helpful.

  • Work well with Hospital teams.

  • Work collaboratively with entire cross-functional Foundation staff team to achieve overall organizational goals.

Qualifications and Qualities

  • University degree (or equivalent)
  • Major Gifts fundraising experience, preferably with a minimum of 3 years in Development
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including effective networking and listening skills

  • Ability to clearly articulate the mission and priorities of Holland Bloorview

  • Ability to align donor interests with approved funding priorities/case for support

  • Demonstrated relationship management skills, and a track record of working well with internal and external stakeholders including Boards, donors, fundraisers, volunteers and staff
  • Computer skills including: MS Office; Raiser's Edge an asset
  • The ability to multi-task and set priorities with a sense of urgency
