Description

Summary:

Motor Vehicle Operators operate tactical and non-tactical vehicles to include buses to transport Soldiers and cargo at the Transportation School. Motor Vehicle Operators support and assist in training events providing advanced mobility on and off the battlefield.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:

· Operating tactical and non-tactical vehicles to include buses

· Transporting personnel and cargo

· Supporting and participating in tactical and non-tactical convoys, field training exercises, and all other training support

· Assist with the 508th Transportation Company drivers training program

· Performing preventative maintenance checks and services, including washing and cleaning vehicles

· Performing all convoy procedures in accordance with AR 55-29 and 508th Transportation Company movement orders and standard operating procedures

· Mounting/dismounting large and oversized tactical vehicles

· Supporting troop movement and vehicle maintenance

· Participating in all initial planning conferences with the truck master, as required

· Managing the loading and unloading of personnel and equipment

· Protecting cargo against damage

· Operating vehicle material handling equipment, as required

· Employing land navigation techniques

· Maintaining qualification with radios and vehicle-mounted weapons

· Performing vehicle self-recovery and field expedients to include towing

· Correcting or reporting all vehicle deficiencies

· Preparing vehicles for shipment by air, rail, or vessel

Required Qualifications:

· Current Virginia Commercial Driver's License, Class A, or Class B with (P) endorsement, no learner's permit

· Two years documented experience as a motor vehicle operator (88M)

· Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

· Ability to stand, sit, or walk for long periods of time and endure inclement weather conditions if necessary

· Completion of Support Cadre Training Course or Installation Staff Contractor Training Course or willingness to complete one of the courses

Clearance: Minimum of a National Agency Check with Inquiries
