Description

Swanson Rink is currently looking for an IT Manager who displays technical competence on all systems and the ability to resolve or guide others through complex problem resolution. This position is responsible for directing the overall day to day and infrastructure for Information Technology, and performing activities to maintain computer hardware and software, peripherals, network server, and office electronic equipment in order to ensure proper daily operations.

The ideal person for this position will be extremely motivated and well organized, in addition to being proactive in making recommendations and plans for enhancement.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Oversees the operations of the Information Technology department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.

  2. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Swanson Rink's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, prioritizing, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  3. Manages outsourced functions.

  4. Maintains a documented system of policies and procedures.

  5. Coordinates and assists staff that perform testing installations and moving of computer workstations, software, servers, routers, switches and firewalls. Installs and configures hardware and software in accordance with standard procedures and work order specifications.

  6. Supports existing business applications by troubleshooting issues, analyzing possible causes, defining solutions, and then working to enable quick resolution. Helps to introduce and develop best practices within the IT group and staff accessing corporate IT resources.

  7. Maintains, diagnoses, and repairs computers and peripherals including printers, telephone systems, and other portable communications, and instructs users in the proper operation and maintenance of computers. Performs in-house diagnostics and repairs defective equipment; analyzes problems and coordinates resolution with appropriate parties.

  8. Trains personnel in equipment operations and maintenance and maintains up-to-date documentation.

  9. Participates in analysis, research, and development of applications for new hardware, software and new technology. Evaluates new technologies and their potential risk (positive or negative) to the business, conduct proof-of-concept exercises as appropriate.

  10. Works directly with application vendors, Swanson Rink management and staff to deliver high-valued technical solutions and capabilities in support of changing business requirements, new business initiatives, and general application support services. Provide technical expertise and advice on client platforms to IT Leadership as needed.

  11. Coordinates and performs maintenance and administrative functions for the network.

  12. Coordinates the procurement and distribution of upgrades to workstation computer software; defines users to the file server, maintains user and system login scripts, creates groups and grants trustee rights to groups and users; ensures regularly scheduled backups of network files are performed.

  13. Manages and adjusts work hours as necessary to meet the ongoing responsibilities of this position. Has the ability and willingness to work general support on-call responsibilities on a 24/7/365 basis as appropriate as well as cell phone accessibility.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Security Systems or similar field plus a minimum of seven years' experience designing, developing, integrating, and supporting enterprise commercial applications.

1 – 5 years of Information Technology Management experience, including supervising employees preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • Knowledge of Microsoft core infrastructure technologies and broad knowledge of adjacent, supporting technologies (Group Policy, AD-management, Hyper-V, TCP/IP & sub-netting, Terminal Services, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and applications ((Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2014, SharePoint, Windows 7/8,10) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of Citrix XenDesktop (HDX a plus).

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and or Revit a plus.

  • Familiarity with Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), firewalls and proxy servers.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for the corporate environment (CISSP a plus)

  • Stay abreast with updates on various software programs and evolving computer technology.

  • Pursue training and development opportunities and strive to continuously build knowledge and skills.

  • Detail oriented – with the ability to foresee potential problems.

  • Ability to recognize patterns (exceptions vs. rules).

  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to track multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to work independently - needing minimal supervision in day-to-day tasks.

  • Willing to follow the rules and guidelines set forth and maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Possess excellent customer service skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff.

  • Exceptional problem solving skills required.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively; to express ideas; to share information; and to prepare clear, well-organized correspondence, reports and similar documents.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

  • MCDST - Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician

  • Customer Support Specialist (Helpdesk Institute)

  • Network + Certification

  • MCSA - Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator

  • MCSE - Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer

  • MCITP – Microsoft Certified IT Professional
