Limited Assignment (2 years or less) Power Delivery Engineering Technician I

Description

Essential Function:

  • Create and/or revise Substation, Transmission, Distribution, Fiber Optics and Telecommunications drawings/work order packages using AutoCAD from engineer’s sketch or markups.

  • Assist with basic design of transmission lines and distribution facilities; protective relaying, lighting, monitoring, control systems and substations.
  • Using drawings perform construction and line surveying.

  • Data entry into existing District programs, computer literacy a must.

  • Fieldwork for data collection and survey knowledge desirable.

  • Will be assigned special projects such as:

    • Verifying pole contact data

    • Streetlight inventory

    • Correcting GIS maps

    • Reconciling asset inventory

  • Miscellaneous other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

Education:

  • Possess a two year Engineering Technician degree or equivalent.

  • Preference will be given to electrical, civil or drafting technology degrees.

Experience:

  • Two to five years’ experience electrical utility design and/or construction is desired, but not mandatory.

  • Aptitude for engineering, surveying, math and drafting is a must.

  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD 2010 or newer and all Microsoft Office Suite software.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to print and write legibly.

  • Must have valid Washington State driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform outside work occasionally.

  • Able to lift 10-20 lbs.

  • Use of hand tools is required occasionally.
