Janitorial Equipment Technician

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of janitorial equipment and related items. The primary responsibility is to ensure that all equipment is maintained and repaired properly so it is safe for the user.


  • Follow safety policies and procedures without exception.
  • Repair and maintain commercial carpet extractors, ride on scrubbers, push scrubbers, backpack vacuums, shop vac vacuums and many other types of equipment janitorial. This includes but is not limited to:
  1. Scheduled preventive maintenance
  2. Major and minor engine and transmission repairs
  3. Tire/wheel repair and replacement
  4. Braking system repairs
  5. Diagnosis and repair of various types of janitorial equipment
  • Complete Service Records.
  • Coordinate and prioritize work load with supervisor.
  • Welding and cutting steel for fabrication or repairs may be necessary.
  • Forklift operation and Skid steer operation is a plus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position Requirements


  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical field, equipment repair, or related work.
  • Must be able read and write English proficiently.
  • Welding, forklift experience helpful.


  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record necessary.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds, push, pull and carry a variety of tools, equipment, and supplies. Requires good physical coordination and stamina.
  • At least 90% of the day is spent standing while working.
  • Some work may be outdoors year-round, must be willing and able to work occasionally in all weather conditions.
  • Assigned work is often hazardous and requires use of many types of power equipment. Including but not limited to equipment lift, air and other power tools, cutting and welding equipment.
  • Will work around many hazardous materials including but not limited to gasoline, diesel, oil solvents, paints, cleaners and compressed air.
  • Will be required to work evenings, weekends (including snow removal), or holidays as required by work schedule, or trainings.
  • Must provide steel toed shoes to be worn at all times when on duty.
  • Must be able to travel by car or plain. The work locations may be in several states.
