Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Teacher supports the Director by helping to create and maintain a nurturing and safe environment for the children, as well as improving the overall care and quality of education at the Children’s Center. The Lead Teacher must be able to respectfully communicate, actively listen, and work well alongside others in a team environment. The Lead Teacher develops and supports positive partnering relationships with the children and their families our program serves. Lead Teacher is responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on the children’s interests and needs and provides mentorship to the Assistant Teacher with this responsibility. This full-time position covers the infant room in the Children’s Center during the academic year.

 
Position Requirements

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field and one year experience with children OR
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and one year experience with children OR
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field and two years professional experience with children OR
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children
  • Ability to lift and carry child(ren) for short periods
  • Ability to effectively communicate and actively participate in all experiences of the particular age group, i.e., sit, crawl, stoop, run, climb, jump, dance, etc.
  • Discretion, respect and ability to maintain confidentiality
