Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION: Assist the Director, other senior staff and volunteers in carrying out the development programs of the national setting of the United Church of Christ by providing oversight of the data management systems for donor and providing leadership in prospect management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, pre-qualify and conduct detailed prospect research.
  • Maintain database integrity by overseeing the processing of gifts to maintain consistency and ensure accuracy of reports and developing policies and procedures for systems and software use.
  • Coordinates record management including reports, mailings and other needs related to all campaigns, appeals and special events.
  • Build prospect management program and works with OPS team to advance prospects and fundraising initiatives via moves management system.
  • Manages online giving pages, e-communications and e-appeals for philanthropic support.
  • Creates concise, accurate and timely reports to analyze current giving programs and support the development of future giving opportunities through the creation of predictive models.
  • Creates concise, accurate, and timely ratings and research profiles using biographical information, financial data, philanthropic history and resources.
  • Conducts monthly strategic planning sessions with major gifts officers and director.
  • Support the research needs of OPS team and staff in other ministries.
  • Responds to inquiries for information and resources as requested by conferences and congregations throughout the United Church of Christ.
  • Keeps abreast of trends in prospect research, online searching and analytics.
  • Maintains an expectation of excellence in both written and verbal communications.

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.

  • A college degree in a related field or equivalent experience, or a combination of academic study and experience.

  • Experience in the philosophy and practice of philanthropy in the non-profit sector and demonstrated experience working in the area of prospect research and management.

  • Demonstrated experience with data systems and database management.

  • Experience in gaining access to and establishing connections with national business, foundation, and industry leaders; philanthropists; and other high-level individuals.

  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities

  • Commitment to and theological understanding of mission, stewardship and philanthropy.

  • Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural and religious settings with commitment to diversity in the workplace as well as in one's understanding of mission.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and properly handle confidential or sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and collegially as well as independently.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Raiser's Edge.

  • Limited travel within the United States.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in prospect research, research analysis and moves management within the context of Raiser's Edge.

  • Understanding of the polity and structures of the United Church of Christ.
