CAD/GIS Operator I

Description Responsible for GIS data input and maintenance of the GIS database. Ensures GIS database matches all other in house record databases and correcting all inconsistencies between databases. Responsible for updating the GIS land base including: (roads, subdivisions, boundaries and annexations.) Provides maps, schematics and CPR data as requested. Updates and performs maintenance of the CPR database information. Responsible for analyzing complex and diverse information. Responsible for the verification of both proposed and as-built projects in the GIS database as required by the HTC GIS standards. Assists in training employees on the input and maintenance of data within the GIS database. Uses intuition and experience to complement data. Collects and researches data. Identifies data relationships and dependencies. Responsible for utilizing GIS tools, and analytical skills to collect and identify data relationships and dependencies of outside plant facilities alongside other related data. Assists in other areas of the Engineering Operations Department as needed. Performs other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall objectives of the department.

Position Requirements Experience: Two years related experience and/or training.

Job Knowledge: Related Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent experience. Must have intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Must have a knowledgeable working experience with the following software: MS Products including Word, Excel, Outlook; Internet/Intranet; CPR; Cadtel/GIS; ESRI; AutoCad; Ceridian. Must be able to draw, read, and understand staking sheets, maps, overlays and circuit diagrams. Professional level of intelligence is expected.

Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use of hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear and lift up to 25 pounds. Vision Requirements: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors) and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus). Working Conditions: Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. May have to work near moving mechanical parts and moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a technical nature.

Special Demands: Must comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to management and/or Human Resources. Must have a valid state driver's license. Must comply with and maintain compliance with motor vehicle record guidelines as listed within the Background Investigation Guidelines. Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental, interdepartmental and corporate goals. Identifies the organization of tasks and the time schedule that would help the team reach goals efficiently, creatively, and effectively. Selects approaches that accept direction from other team members in order to complete tasks and to build and keep up good team relations. Recognizes the need for commitment to quality and sensitivity to customers while pursuing the team goal. Prioritizes and handles multiple tasks simultaneously. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air. Regular – Work schedule requirements are usually consistent from week to week. Handles and maintains confidential and/or sensitive information.
